I recently took a course on the Essentials of Pastoral Marriage Counseling by Dr. Richard Marks at the Tallahassee Christian College and Training Center in Tallahassee, Florida.
One of the topics covered in this class was Core Relationship Needs and the importance of having these needs met in childhood.
- My core relationship needs were met by the following family members.
Affirmation: Frances our housekeeper
Respect: My Aunt Joyce & Uncle B.D.
Appreciation: ?
Attention: My Dad
Approval: My Sunday School Teacher
Security: My brother Doug
Acceptance: My Brother Doug
Support: My mom and dad
Affection: My dad
Encouragement: ?
As you can see, there were two core relationship needs, I could not identify with being met as a child. Unknowingly over the years, and throughout my life I have attempted to get these needs met in various ways, both healthy and unhealthy..
During an inner healing session where I was being ministered to, God revealed the need and provided the healing for these two areas (appreciation & encouragement). The Lord showed me how He had healed, filled and provided for ALL of my Core Relationship Needs to be met through the power and person of Jesus Christ. God is always faithful, to save, deliver and heal us, and to reveal truth to us at the exact perfect time.
Make time to ask the Lord about the specific areas you need healing, deliverance or help with. He us always faithful to supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory.
