The Chickens Are Crying…Eat More Beef!

Photo: Pastor Susan came all the way from a village to deliver gifts the day we were leaving!
She brought a watermelon, a piece of cloth for Abide International Missionary Victor Campbell and a chicken! We love chicken!

Dear Friend,

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now…” Philippians 1:3-5

Because I am supported totally by your gifts & kindness; I thank God for you daily, always remember you in my prayers, and want you to see how your love, your prayers and gifts have provided so very much to so very many around the world!

We ate lots and lots of chicken during our time in Tanzania this past May. It was our main source of protein, other than chicken eggs while we were there.

It seemed as if we could almost hear the chickens on the side of the roads screaming from their cages,  “Eat More Beef!”

The last hamburger and Big Mac we saw was at the McDonald’s in the Amsterdam airport. I have to admit the first place I went when I got back was to get my favorite Jr. Whataburger with Mayo, Mustard and Onions!

Our first two weeks were packed full of teaching, ministry and fellowship with over 200 women, infants and toddlers in attendance!

For more information: UHURU Freedom PowWows: Join our Facebook page or click on our PowWow website.

I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ[a]—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.” Philippians 1:9-11

We were also able to visit several churches in the city and nearby villages where we shared  soccer balls, candy, testimonies and preached the gospel. During one one of these trips 15-20 men and women came forward for to make a commitment to Jesus Christ and to receive prayers for healing.
This was a birthday party. Denise made Pastor Chambo his favorite lemon cake which he cut into very tiny pieces. We were then given the opportunity to “dance” for a piece, which we all did. We only got one itty bitty piece. The rest is all for the birthday boy or girl!
Susan is a pastor of a church in a  village near Mwanza. She invited us to come share one Sunday morning at the 10:00 a.m. service. They begin their Sunday services at
7:00 a.m. with intercessory prayer!

When we were there her church is very modest. Recent winds and rains have compromised the plastic roof.

During the week Pastor Susan disciples women, provides shelter to the homeless, disciples other ministers and raises money to help poor women buy feminine hygiene products.
This is now the beginnings of Pastor Susan’s New Church Building!

Thanking God for Tanzanian Women Leaders

2019 UHURU Women Leader’s PowWow, Mwanza Tanzania

Our women’s leadership conference took place at the home of Glen & Denise Ellerbe, founders of Abide International Ministries. The first week we hosted 50 women leaders who gathered for a time of singing, teaching, crafting, fellowship and discipleship. Pictured here the women are working on their Freedom Discipleship Books.

We were also invited to teach at an annual women’s conference that is held at one of the local churches. The pastor of the church is a Bishop over 62 pastors and hosts an annual women’s conference. Denise, Beverly and I were invited to teach, minister and share our PowWow books with over 100 women who attended along with about 20-30 children. They would then be able to go back to their respective churches and communities and share what they learned.

At the end of both weeks the women washed each others feet and prayed for one another. It was a sweet time of ministry for all of us!
And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet,
you ought to wash each other’s feet. John 13:14 NLT
We washed the children’s feet and prayed over them!

“If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash each other’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.” John 13:13-17

This was especially impactful to these women as many began to weep and release burdens as their Christian sister prayed over and washed their feet.

Every single one of these women work very hard from before sun up until late in the evening. It was a reminder to us all how Jesus, even though he was about to endure a terrible death spent his last evening washing his disciples feet. In spite of our own personal hardships and trials, supporting and loving one another is key to teaching others about Jesus’ love and sacrifice.

The women came out to greet us when we arrived and were singing, dancing and we took part in the celebration doing the same!

Greetings and Goodbyes are very important in the Tanzanian communities. So is singing and dancing. We had a wonderful time of both.

We spoke at and visited several churches on our trip. Two were in a village outside of town. Below is Pastor Susan, one of the pastors of a village church. She attended our leadership PowWow. Although her church is primitive she and her members worship and praise God with so much joy!

Below is a village about two hours outside of Mwanza. The pastor is Pastor John. Many came out to hear us teach on a Friday afternoon and 15-20 villagers gave their lives to the Lord for the first time!

Pastor John’s church was the first tabernacle Abide International Ministries helped to build. A cobra dropped down from one of the rafters as Missionary Glen Ellerbe was holding up the last roof beam! By helping the pastors put up a church building it gives the people somewhere to come in out of the weather as well as help to establish credibility within the villages. Many of them have mosques nearby. Glen and Denise have a burden to distribute Bibles, build tabernacles for new pastors, as well as to disciple and train the men and women leaders God is raising up while there is an open door into this country.

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Matthew 7:24
This is on top of the Big Rock with Lake Victoria in the background.

These huge rock formations were all over Mwanza. The scenery is amazing, a supernatural wonder and a place where God is doing amazing things in the earth and people of Tanzania.

He is not here!

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” Matt. 28:6

He is not here…

During the course of Jesus’ ministry on earth he encountered many individuals and groups of people; some who were very poor and homeless, others absorbed in themselves declaring their deity and building their kingdoms on earth. There were others who were sick and dying, without anyone caring for them.

As I have traveled to places around the world I have seen both wealth and poverty and the majority of people are living and working toward some sort of purposeful dreams and goals for which they will be remembered by family and friends. The ones who are most hopeful are those who believe in the resurrection of the body and this is what Resurrection Sunday or “Easter Sunday” is all about.

The truth of the matter is on the morning the women mourners came to apply burial ointment to Jesus’s body, they were met with an empty tomb. Suddenly their despair and disappointment was turned into hope and excitement.

“As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples…’” Mark 16:5-7

Jesus came to rescue the perishing, care for the dying, offering hope to those who were hopeless. The disciples hope for an earthly king had been shattered but yet their hopelessness and unbelief at the time didn’t stop Jesus from dying, then rising.

Jesus was dead, buried and in the grave. But, this wasn’t the end of the story or God’s plan for mankind. Resurrection Sunday is not about an empty and final resting place here on earth, it is about an eternal home beyond our earthly understanding and is where Jesus will greet everyone who becomes His disciple, once their physical bodies die.

Christ’s resurrection is a promise for everyone who will believe in the person of Jesus. He isn’t just someone who lived a memorable life, then died and we honor His works and contributions and gifts to mankind. Jesus is risen indeed! He is alive and is in fact God, the Creator of mankind. He has already prepared for us to be with Him once our life here on earth is over.

Unlike any other idol or god, Jesus rose from the dead just like He promised he would. “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,” John 11:25

One day I was told the story of Jesus. That day as I prayed, I believed in my heart that what I was hearing was true. Jesus is the bondage breaker and takes away the bondage of sins and sorrows that plague our lives. There is no other prescription for change than the one Jesus has already written.

He walks with me and He talks with me, He tells me I am His own.
He lives inside of me!

“That you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.” Eph. 1:18-21

The Pig Stuck in the Mud

So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating,
but no one gave him anything.

Luke 15:15-16

Recently I had a dream and it was terrible. In it there was a pig like the one pictured above that was buried and stuck in the mud. This pig looked so awful that I felt like she/he would die any second. It was buried up past it’s neck and stuck up under the porch of a house where you could barely see it at all. The yard had been flooded and to even get underneath the porch would be nearly impossible.

I kept looking around for someone to help. I was alone and there was no one in sight. It was getting dark quickly. I had to act fast if this pig was to be rescued.

I feel embarrassed to say my first thoughts were;

Just walk away and pretend that you didn’t notice it underneath there. No one will know.

Marlene’s Thoughts

Then the still small voice of the Holy Spirit spoke to me. He said, “I’ll know.”
I felt so ashamed and yet, the Holy Spirit didn’t bring condemnation only conviction. He said,

God loves that pig whether it lives or dies. You’ve been given a choice to either get down and get dirty, or to turn and walk away. Jesus still loves you too.

I woke up in a sweat. I was so thankful I was only dreaming! Then I remembered the story of the prodigal son who had squandered his inheritance and was so hungry that he would have gotten down into the mud just to eat the pigs food. Only if he had been allowed to.

Luke 15:15-16

The Lord showed me the condition of my heart and how easy it was for me to judge who is worthy or not worthy of rescuing.

The entire chapter of Luke 15 is about how God will leave those who are in good condition to go after the one lost person, in this case a pig. The Lord is ever pursuing the dirty, the broken, the lost and hurting. This is what His saving grace is all about.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53

Again, I’m thankful this was just a dream, but I’m even more thankful that like a pig stuck in the mud, the Lord sent Jesus to die for my sins, my pig pen, and he never hesitated a time coming in after me.

Make No Mistake Vulnerable Love Hurts

Make no mistake, vulnerable love hurts. To love with complete abandon will cost you. It has cost many their very lives.

Have you ever loved so deeply that it hurts when you think about never seeing that person again? So many writers describe this feeling…

“If you were my last breath I’d just want to hold you.” ~Kip Moore

“Vulnerable love doesn’t just hope to see. It longs.” ~Beth Moore

The Apostle Paul loved his Christian brothers and sisters so much he hurt. He was willing to die alone and in prison (and eventually was martyred) to further the good news and testimony that he himself had met Jesus Christ, the living God! Before his conversion, Paul, (known as Saul of Tarsus) was a Roman citizen who was also a Pharisee and zealot. He actually went out killing and persecuting those who were the disciples of Jesus.

As a Pharisee he once took great pride in keeping God’s laws. One day as he rode on his horse to the city of Tarsus, to hunt down and murder Christians, his entire perspective changed in one instant. You might say, “He was knocked off his high horse.”

He was blinded by a light and knocked off his horse. A voice from heaven asked him this question, “Saul, why do you persecute me?”

When you have an encounter with God, it will change the way you stand.

Rev. C. Pettis

Paul, once a murderer and terrorist had been eternally transformed through the power of a resurrected Jesus. Read Acts 9.

Paul would become one of the greatest authors, evangelists, missionary and apostles the world has ever known.

After his conversion and now, years later Paul finds himself being led by the Holy Spirit knowing his future looks bleak. There are those who seek to destroy him. Those he once stood beside, now stand to judge, imprison and persecute, beat and kill him.

“And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. 24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:22-24

Love hurts
Love scars
Love wounds and marks
Any heart not tough or strong enough
To take a lot of pain, take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud, it holds a lot of rain

Songwriters: Boudleaux Bryant

Near the end of his life, Paul had grown so very close to those he had once persecuted because of Jesus. His hardened heart was now soft and vulnerable. He writes near his death (most agree it was Timothy) “I remember your tears.” (2 Tim. 1:4)

Because of Paul’s conversion and the grace, love & scars Paul endured we see what Beth Moore calls Vulnerable Love.

Make no mistake there is a God who loves and treasures you. He wept, He suffered, He was crucified, for one and only one reason: His Love For The World (John 3:16).

Divine Love Does Not Spare Itself. ~ Beth Moore

He is jealous for me, Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

What is your mission statement?

I recently had the opportunity to meet with several millennials who have started their own businesses.

We discussed Google’s mission statement which is:

Google’s Mission Statement. “To organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”Aug 27, 2018

God tells the prophet Habakkuk who was living and working in very evil and perilous times to write down the vision/mission/revelation and make it plain….

The Lord’s Answer

Then the Lord replied:

“Write down the revelation
and make it plain on tablets
so that a herald[b] may run with it.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
    it speaks of the end
    and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
    it[c] will certainly come
    and will not delay.

Read entire Habakkuk 2 Here

The Lord gives instructions on being a righteous business man or woman and how important it is to stay focused on the vision and mission God gives us.

If you would like help discussing or writing your vision or mission statement please feel free to contact me at CinderellaReleased@gmail.com and give me your name, phone/ Skype/What’s App number and best time to reach you! I will be happy to help or simply click here to contact me.
