Make No Mistake Vulnerable Love Hurts

Make no mistake, vulnerable love hurts. To love with complete abandon will cost you. It has cost many their very lives.

Have you ever loved so deeply that it hurts when you think about never seeing that person again? So many writers describe this feeling…

“If you were my last breath I’d just want to hold you.” ~Kip Moore

“Vulnerable love doesn’t just hope to see. It longs.” ~Beth Moore

The Apostle Paul loved his Christian brothers and sisters so much he was willing to die to further the truth that Jesus was God made flesh, and had died and rose again for the sins of each person. Before his conversion, Paul, (known as Saul of Tarsus) was a merciless zealot who went out to kill and persecute Christians in the name of a Holy God.

He was a Roman citizen and Pharisee who took great pride in keeping God’s laws. One day as he rode on his (high) horse to Tarsus to hunt down and murder Christians, his entire perspective changed in one instant.

He was blinded by a light and knocked off his horse. A voice from heaven asked him this question, “Saul, why do you persecute me?”

Paul, once a murderer and terrorist had been eternally transformed through the power of a resurrected Jesus. Read Acts 9.

Paul would become one of the greatest authors, evangelists, missionary and apostles the world has ever known.

After his conversion and now, years later Paul finds himself being led by the Holy Spirit knowing his future looks bleak. There are those who seek to destroy him. Those he once stood beside, now stand to judge, imprison and persecute, beat and kill him.

“And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. 24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:22-24

Love hurts
Love scars
Love wounds and marks
Any heart not tough or strong enough
To take a lot of pain, take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud, it holds a lot of rain

Songwriters: Boudleaux Bryant

Near the end of his life, Paul had grown so very close to those he had once persecuted because of Jesus. His hardened heart was now soft and vulnerable. He writes near his death (most agree it was Timothy) “I remember your tears.” (2 Tim. 1:4)

Because of Paul’s conversion and the grace, love & scars Paul endured we see what Beth Moore calls Vulnerable Love.

Make no mistake there is a God who loves and treasures you. He wept, He suffered, He was crucified, for one and only one reason: His Love For The World (John 3:16).

Divine Love Does Not Spare Itself. ~ Beth Moore

He is jealous for me, Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

What is your mission statement?

I recently had the opportunity to meet with several millennials who have started their own businesses.

We discussed Google’s mission statement which is:

Google’s Mission Statement. “To organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”Aug 27, 2018

God tells the prophet Habakkuk who was living and working in very evil and perilous times to write down the vision/mission/revelation and make it plain….

The Lord’s Answer

Then the Lord replied:

“Write down the revelation
and make it plain on tablets
so that a herald[b] may run with it.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
    it speaks of the end
    and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
    it[c] will certainly come
    and will not delay.

Read entire Habakkuk 2 Here

The Lord gives instructions on being a righteous business man or woman and how important it is to stay focused on the vision and mission God gives us.

The Greatest Treasure!

Searching for Lost Treasure!

“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?  And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ 1In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:8-10

Perhaps you or a loved one has suffered a sudden or tragic loss. Questions similar to these crowd our thoughts….

“What if I don’t survive this health crisis?

What were they thinking when they did that?

Can God forgive me?

Why did he/she leave me?

Where do I go from here?

If God is good why did He allow this?

Jesus shared stories like the one above to those who would listen. Like this woman who had lost one of her valuable coins we all go through times when we suffer great loss, disappointment and hopelessness.

In this story of the lost coin Jesus compares this to a lost soul being found. Jesus says, “That the angels rejoice when ONE SINNER repents.”

God is not waiting to catch us in doing wrong, His heart is for us to be found. His love, forgiveness and eternal life is available not only for the abused, broken and hurting, but for even the worst of sinners, those who are abusers, addicts, homeless, and mentally ill. Repentance is about returning to our Creator.

There is not one soul that God does not count as treasure and of great worth.

Jesus came as Immanuel – God is with us! This is what the celebration of Christmas is all about! If He is for us, who can be against us?

When Jesus was still an infant, Mary and Joseph took him to the Temple.  Mary was there to make a purification offering as instructed by God’s Law following the birth of each child.  As Mary and Joseph walked into the Temple court, an old man named Simeon hurried over, obviously beside himself.  Taking Jesus into his arms he began praising God.  “Lord, now I can die in peace,” he cried.  “For I have seen the Savior you promised to show me.  He is the Light that will shine upon the nations, and he will be the glory of your people Israel!”

Simeon and Anna looked down into the face of God…and realized they were looking at the redeemer and deliverer of Israel. They saw the greatest treasure ever given to mankind! God came to earth as a baby and with a plan to redeem mankind!

Repentance

When we realize how much God loves us, that He created us and is alive and wants to build a relationship with us, we can accept His gift of salvation, deliverance and healing with an open heart and mind.

Like Simeon, Anna and many others we will be ready to meet Him and can die in peace and look forward to the restoration of God’s Kingdom and the freedom of living forever. Jesus is Lord of Lords and King of Kings and His Kingdom will reign and go on forever.

The crisis, trauma and sorrows of this life are only temporary afflictions and will truly be wiped away, forever when we choose to accept Jesus as our redeemer.

Merry Christmas from Marlene!

“Shalom aleikhem!” Yeshua repeated. “Just as the Father sent me, I myself am also sending you.” John 20:21 CJB

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, our savior let us remember the reason He came was to be with us, to redeem us and to return again. Our mission is to be fishers of men, and to equip and train others to lead others to Him.

Behold, The Lamb who was slain for our sins!

For a church to be constantly needing revival is the indication of much sin, for if it were sound before the Lord it would remain in the condition into which a revival would uplift its members. A church should be a camp of soldiers, not an hospital of invalids. But there is exceedingly much difference between what ought be and what is, and consequently many of God’s people are in so sad a state that the very fittest prayer for them is for revival. Some Christians are, spiritually, but barely alive. ~Charles Spurgeon – What is Revival – Sword & Trowel 1866

Revival is not measured by the number of people who come to a church, Revival is measured by the number of sheep trained, equipped and led to the pasture God wants them! Mark Geppert, Founder SEAPC

Fishers of men are: Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Equipped by the Holy Spirit and Emitted by the Holy Spirit

True Leadership is mindful of others.

Therefore, if you have any encouragement for me from your being in union with the Messiah, any comfort flowing from love, any fellowship with me in the Spirit, or any compassion and sympathy, then complete my joy by having a common purpose and a common love, by being one in heart and mind. Do nothing out of rivalry or vanity; but, in humility, regard each other as better than yourselves — look out for each other’s interests and not just for your own. Phil. 2:1-4 CJB

May the Lord bless you and your family this holiday season!

Severe Quake Hits Alaska Friends Today….

Image Daily Express

Most of us have never experienced an earthquake, the aftershocks and fear that can come along with suddenly seeing everything that is solid and secure be suddenly shaken and in disarray.

When I was in Alaska the first time, I experienced some very mild tremors but nothing like was described by friends today!

When calamity hits us it is important to be prepared and to know that we serve a God whose foundation will never be shaken.

Here are 10 Bible verses to encourage you during the uncertain times.

1. “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.” Psalm 46:1

2. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

3.“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7

4. “The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.” Psalm 121:7-8

5. “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” – Matthew 6:31:34

6. “The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.” – Psalm 29:11

7. “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

8. “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

9. “Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55:22

10. “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” James 1:2-4

That 70’s Sofa – Falling in the Father’s Arms

Falling in the Father’s arms:

mid-century-sofa.jpg

In February 1991 there was a storm that touched my life. The weather was very cold and my heart was very broken. My two youngest sons and I had just moved from a very large home in Altamonte Springs into a very tiny one bedroom apartment in Tallahassee, Florida. My bedroom was a 70’s sofa that my brother and sister-in-law had given us. It didn’t have much support and the fabric was a little scratchy. I had given the boys the bedroom and had a bunk bed with their little TV and a Nintendo hooked up to it. They didn’t have many toys  other than a couple of stuffed animals, transformers and some matchbook cars.

They really didn’t understand what was going on at the time and had no idea how “the storm” that had hit us would change the course of our lives. God was then and still is now so merciful. I was so thankful when they were fast asleep so I could bury my head and cry out to God! He never, not once failed to comfort me in His everlasting arms.

I didn’t know how in the world I was going to survive as a single mom. All of the questions of Why, How and What were racing in my mind. I was displaced, disheartened and seemingly alone. I remember making up my bed on the couch, crawling under the covers and closing my eyes asking Jesus to help me go to sleep. The last thing I remember before falling asleep was my heavenly Father’s loving arms wrapped around me. I felt like I was being tucked into bed like a little baby. It is impossible to describe how safe, protected and loved I felt, on that 70’s sofa!

Another friend of mine from Alaska shares a similar story about falling in the Father’s arms.

“As she started going off the driveway, over the edge, she felt the arms of Jesus come around her and swaddle her so tightly like a baby and fill her with such peace that is so indescribable. Her face and body were inches from the windshield but never touched or hit anything. Her head started to go out the sunroof but Jesus was holding her down where she wouldn’t fly out. When the truck finally stopped, it had rolled over once and stopped on all four tires. Crystal had come to a rest about 30 ft below the driveway down the mountain without a single scratch, bruise, or break of any kind. She had glass all over her face and in her mouth yet nothing penetrated the skin. It was an absolute miracle from Jesus that she walked out of the vehicle that day.

Seven people including Rick. watched the accident happen, and we all knew that it was by our Savior’s grace that she was alive. Our truck was totaled but not even one scratch on Crystal…! HALLELUJAH! ” Rick Rumner, Outreach Missionary Priceless.Org AlaskaNo
