“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.”

My first experience with Pastor Laban, preaching, teaching, and praying in Africa was in a studio sized block building in the middle of a slum called KipKaren in Eldoret Kenya. As multitudes came to hear, the gospel I was overwhelmed by the power and presence of Jesus in these meetings.

It’s been amazing to me to see how when humble hearts 💕 come before God, how He always responds in such a supernatual and loving way.

I love to see The Lord’s eternal and earthly touches that cannot be measured or explained in human words.

I will always be grateful to Pastor Mary Johnson… Founder of Voice for Jesus Outreach Ministries in Monroeville, Alabama who introduced me to Bishop Laban and his family.

Six years later, I was able to return to KipKaren and hear and see how the Lord had grown the work there. Christ Fellowship rented a tin building that was very insecure. Chairs had to be carried and set up and taken down before and after each meeting. The pandemic had passed, but troubles, hardships, and trials were many for the church and its members.

Cinderella Released Ministries joined with Bishop Laban and Pastor Becky and a very small group of women who were hungry for the Lord. We began monthly meetings to teach God’s Word and strengthen their walk with the Lord. Many began to see change in their husbands and families. This is how Women of Purpose  and Grace International was born.

Over the past two years, the church found a piece of property good for gardening and have been able to pour a foundation, put up walls and roofs, and are now tiling the floors.

The church is thriving, and they are baptizing many new believers.

A couple  of months ago, Bishop Laban got the opportunity to redeem his parent’s shop in the local market. 30% of the former patrons have already returned. Thank you for your prayers and seed money!

It’s rainy season in Kenya. Recently, Pastor Laban was nearly washed away when the road they were on flooded.

“Been raining hard in Kenya close to 100 lost houses and family members my friend.”

God protected them during the rainy season when their car was overtaken on a muddy road.

It is easy sometimes to get distracted and start to focus on the problems rather than God’s blessings. 2023 has produced many opportunities to give up, grow cold, and even discouraged, but we serve a God who has all the solutions.

Pastor Laban and I discussed how important it is to remember that our days are numbered (time is short) and as pastors, disciples and servants of the Lord to not grow weary in serving the Lord with gladness.

Thou dost sweep men away; they are like a dream, like grass which is renewed in the morning: in the morning it flourishes and withers. So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. (Psalm 90:5, 6, 12)
