You can't stop lava flow.jpg

There is a lava flow in Hawaii that isn’t stopping. The wind blew an avalanche of rocks into the road today. The Lord said, “The earth is crying out in travail, it is praising a God that can’t be stopped.

God created mankind to praise and worship him. Let your soul and spirit cry out in travail, cry out in praise and overcome the darkness wherever you go – wherever your feet may tread.

Psalm 33

Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.

For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.

The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him
For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.

From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind;
from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth—
he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.

No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength
A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.
But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.

Road Rocks

God sent His Son, the Holy One of Israel, Yeshua (Jesus) to redeem mankind from their sins and from the evil one. He will deliver those who will follow Him from the darkness and into His marvelous light!

The Lord God says,

“You who are His voice, You who are His people, You who are His followers and disciples, go now into all the earth and declare His salvation, deliverance and healing to those who are lost and broken and it is I who will deliver them!

Don’t let a rock, a mountain, a volcano, a wind, or an earthquake cry out for you!”

The Lord is my solid rock,

My God is my rock—
I take refuge in him!—

        my salvation’s strength,

OCCUPY UNTIL I COME! (Luke 19:13)

And as He told the disciples where to get a Colt for him to ride on those who were following him began to cry out in praise.

Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
Luke 19:38-42

“We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.” Romans 8:22

As we praise, worship and intercede for the nations the Lord is faithful to inhabit the praises of His people.

We know as trouble and difficulties arise, this is a call for God’s people to stand firm and Occupy until He comes again.

Claressa ~ A very fruitful woman!

Claressa Now
Claressa with her two children 2017

Story and Testimony written with Clarissa’s permission

I first met Claressa while I was working as the manager of a shelter for homeless women. She came seeking a place to live and to get back on her feet.  She had two little children but they were with her sister. In our interview she didn’t tell me why.

Like myself, and so many others I’ve come to know, counsel and love over the years, the world was not her friend, it never would be, and thinking it can be is foolish. There is a god of this world and he is our enemy. He hates God, and he hates God’s children. Like in the story of the Good Samaritan, Claressa had been robbed, beaten and left on the side of the road for dead. The enemy counted Claressa out.

The human spirit can endure in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?
 Proverbs 18:14

I remember her like she was a frightened little child who had just fallen off her trike and was still in shock. Of course she felt to blame because she was riding where she probably knew she shouldn’t be riding, but after all what other option does a woman of her background do in her situation? Here she was, homeless, childless, husbandless and hopeless (well not quite totally hopeless).

During the course of our conversation, she never cast blame on anyone else for her current homeless  and dark situation. She claimed, “It was all her fault she should have done better. I’m trying to trust the Lord! I just don’t understand why He isn’t helping me. All I want is my children back and I will do anything to make that happen.”

It wasn’t until later when we were helping build her case for court that she mentioned she was the only one employed with a baby, a son who was paralyzed from the waist down, caring for an abusive brain injured husband, walking to work, dropping off her baby girl to daycare every day, cooking, cleaning and attending church regularly. It is obvious then and it is even more obvious now, Claressa was suffering from fatigue, burn-out and most likely PTSD and Complex Stress disorder. She was also spiritually abused.

To make matters worse her husband’s family who were also her spiritual leaders; had given her ill advice regarding the care of both her handicapped husband and son which ultimately made matters worse on her. Until you here the rest of the story, it is hard to imagine how any good could come out of this!

That first day she was trying to convince me she was worthy of a place in our home. When Claressa gets nervous she has a similar habit much like my self. I try to convince people I’m worthy of their love when in fact, that is or never will be the case. People are flawed, read the story of the Good Samaritan. Yet, I understood her brokenness and shattered heart. She didn’t need anything other than a place where God could touch her, and tell her how special she was, and that “she was worthy… worthy enough to die for.” This is how Jesus feels about us all!

I recognized her need for someone to “listen” and “hear” the desires of her heart, “To love God, serve others and be a part of a community that would love and respect her for who she really was.” One of the main issues as with many of the men and women I counsel, was Claressa’s need to recognize her identity in Christ.” After our meeting I was determined that God had called me to respect Claressa and help her no matter what it cost me.

Below is a portion of Claressa’s testimony; one I’m proud to be part of…

November 5, 2007 changed my life forever trusting God was absolute. I called my mom that morning and told her I loved her. That was the last time I ever talked to her!

I was at work and I felt disturbed all day. I received a call from a State Trooper. I met them downstairs I saw my sister and I was quite shocked. The trooper gently but right away said our mom was dead from a car accident. We cried hysterically but the Holy Ghost gave me utterance and I prayed in the Spirit!

The Holy Spirit comforted and calmed me down. God said you have to trust me!
I stopped crying and then told my sister and she pushed me away. People hugged us. This particular guy hugged me and he too felt the Holy Ghost. They said my son and dad were in the hospital. They were in critical condition, but steady. I saw my dad on blood stained the sheets by his broken legs. He was lying there, but God gave me strength.

My son became paralyzed from the injury. The doctors told me he had swelling but he would walk again. I was relieved. I went to church and prayed. Through the course of the week the Lord told me I could call Him my friend.

Satan tried his best to depress me and blame God. In the midst of his attack,

“I said no God is with me. Then God said to me, Now I can call you my friend!”

My son was in so much pain. They transported him and I to Jacksonville to Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital. They said, “He will never walk again.

But even today I am standing on the promise God told me. The Holy Spirit woke me from sleeping. I prayed and the Holy Spirit said, “Hear me, don’t listen to man, Matthew will walk again.”

The next day his uncle came over and if God has not healed him by now he would never heal him. I said no! It’s been over 10 years but I’m believing God to make my son Matthew Kevin Johnson whole. Two months after the accident my father died.

The moral of the story regardless how painful and dark God will walk with u every step of the way. I never thought in a million years that my parents will die at 60 and 61 years of age. I literally trusted God. My parents were my backbone and my everything. I prayed with my mother everyday. She was accepting of the calling. I loved her and our relationship.

Today I can say the Lord is my light and salvation whom shall I fear the Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid.

Five years after this tragedy, in 2010, I lost my children to the state system for three years! My son was home alone with his father, and in another accident. I was held responsible because of my husband’s condition. He and his family abandoned us and left us for dead. No one ever thought I would get them back in full custody. That is another long story.

I lost my job, my husband and my friends.

Nevertheless the Proverbs 21:1 came alive in my life,  “The heart of king is in the hand of the Lord; he can turns it like rivers.”

I went to jail for 72 days, to complete the order the first judge gave me. I had no contact with my ex family. I stayed at the Chelsea house for six months before I went to jail.

That was an experience I will never forget. God gave me a place to stay. I was in an argument with my sister. I fasted the next day. God dealt with Marlene and opened the doors to the Chelsea house. I can remember the day like yesterday. I tried to fix myself up in conversation.

She stopped me and said you are in. I could not believe it. God used me in jail to pray for others and even though my life has been challenging God has seen me through.

Today, I have full custody of my children, an apartment, and a 2 year degree from Tallahassee Community College and waiting to be accepted into Florida A and M University.

God can turn your life around from betrayal and broken heart.

Trust God with all your heart and lean not to your understanding. Proverbs 3:4-5.

2018 ~ Dave Wottle Kick & Year of Your Second Wind

kick
Pinterest Photo Taken in Munich (Photographer Unknown)

“Recently I felt the Lord say, Marlene, 2018 will be a year of acceleration, fruitfulness and you will catch a second wind if you don’t give up!”

This was confirmed recently by a prophetic word from Gale Sheehan : 2018 Open Doors in the Eye of the Storm,

Just like the “eyewall” represents the strongest wind, many times the last step to victory may seem the hardest. Just like a long-distance runner needs to break through the “wall” to receive a “second wind” to finish a race, we will need a spiritual “second wind” in our spiritual races to finish. The “second wind” brings a time of refreshing and renewal. 2018 is a year appointed for the “second wind” from the Lord. Gayle Sheehan – Read Full Article

In 1972 there was a famous collegiate runner who won the 1972 Olympic gold medal in Munich Germany for the 800 meter race. His finish time was 1:44.3.  He was also well known for two other things;

1) He would run wearing a tattered old golf hat to hold back his long hair and;
2) His sudden burst of energy, speed and second wind ~ known as the:
Dave Wottle Kick!

It is this Dave Wottle Kick or second wind which overrides a person’s desire to give out and into defeat or exhaustion. Striding for and finding this invigorating and refreshing second breath or kick of wind enables runners and athletes to go the extra mile, two or more.

It is not only athletes who need or may find this second wind. There are those whom often find themselves in the middle of emergencies, trauma, crisis or even “normal life today.”  I know I often need the mind set of Dave Wottle telling myself,

I’m not going to give in or up till I’ve crossed the line!”

Dave Wottle was a determined 22 year old in spite of opposition. Wottle married just six days after the Olympic trials started.  Being a newlywed worried his coach. Wottle (still married 40 years later spoke about his coach in a 2012 interview:

“He was old-school, and I’m trying to think how to put this tactfully,” Wottle said, “but he thought women weaken legs.”

He also  injured his knee in training just before these games. Dave had two very good reasons to “give in or up,” but  as I see it, he did just the opposite, he pressed in harder.

The writer in Hebrews 12:1-2 tells us as Christians not to give up or in when we feel like it, but to press onward,

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

dave wottle

When we are running our race for the Lord; when the net of sin trys to surround us, let’s fix our eyes on Jesus, accelerate our pace toward the track, the Lord has already paved before us, trusting that He will give us the wind of the Holy Spirit and the “Dave Wottle Kick” to finish our race!

Acceleration – It’s Time!

Steve McQueen – 70’s ‘King of Cool’ is spending time with Jesus!

But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment. James 5:12
This year the Lord has been speaking to me saying, Marlene, rather than making a list of resolutions you hope to keep or a bucket list of things you intend to do before you die; why don’t you just make a resolution to let your yes be yes and your no be no. Spend each day on ME, and I will bring you before those who are lost, broken and hurting.
It’s time to stop wasting time! You are a soul care paramedic, just look around you, there are people in crisis, trauma and dying all around you.
greg-laurie-steve-mcqueen
Greg Laurie Author of Steve McQueen The Salvation of an American Icon
I recently watched a documentary movie about Steve McQueen the 70’s bad boy actor which is based on the book Steve McQueen, The Salvation of an American Icon. Once deemed the ‘King of Cool’; McQueen came to know Jesus, the ‘King of Kings’ just before he passed away from cancer at the young age of 50.
McQueen was not a stranger to crisis and trauma. He drank and did drugs to cover his pain and shame. One of the things he said in an interview was that he regreted spending so much time drinking, doing drugs, and wasting time on things that were not of eternal value. He finally did learn that He was loved, treasured, and life had eternal value; something he never experienced or knew growing up.

In this poignant documentary, shortly after Steve made a decision to follow Jesus, he sought out Evangelist Billy Graham, who later autographed and gave him one of his own personal Bibles. McQueen treasured it and had it with him at his death.

And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.
 ~Revelation 12:11 NLT

One of the three words the Lord has given me to reflect on this year is the word acceleration. I’m still learning that no one can move or carry us into the places we need to be, faster than God. And certainly no one can usher in God’s perfect timing better than the Holy Spirit. I found it ironic and interesting that the makers of Steve’s first movie The Blob,  and now this last documentary about his life, were both Christian film makers. God had planted seeds of faith into Steve McQueen’s life long before he became one of Hollywood’s famous!

Steve McQueen loved to live, drive, fly and go at an accelerated pace. Even when he found out he had cancer, he wasted no time in seeking treatment, and God only after taking a good hard look at himself in the mirror.

He realized the mistakes he had made (I believe in God’s perfect timing), and was thankful for and to the Lord who rescued his soul and ended his race on this earth. Steve finished very well and right on time.

Near the end of his life, he recounts that time is valuable but it is important to use it on the right things, because it goes very quickly.

HourglassIn the ministry the Lord has called me, I come across people every day that need the hope that only comes through building a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our lives here are temporal and none of us are promised tomorrow. We can’t bank our hopes, dreams or even our bucket list. But, we can be assured if we are faithful to trust and obey God, following where He leads,  that when our time is up here on this earth, like Steve, we will hear our Savior’s treasured words “welcome home!”

My call is to help those who are lost, hurting and in bondage to the things in this world that keep them from knowing they will hear these words when their time is up.

I have many partners who are helping me help equip and train others for the harvest that is coming, in our lifetime and beyond.

What is that to you? Follow Me

Imagine yourself to be the Apostle Peter. You have cried, prayed, fasted, fished, all night, and caught nothing. And then suddenly a voice cries out from the shore and tells you to cast your net again, just one more time. The fish come from nowhere and are practically jumping into the net.  You look back to the man who called out from the shore and realize it is Jesus!  You realize it is going to take some time to haul in this catch and you just can’t wait. So you put on your robe and jump out of the boat to get to shore to embrace Him. In the midst of the excitement, you forget your sorrow and that denied Him ~ three times.

Because…. just a few short days ago, you were in the upper room with everyone and like the rest, swore your allegience to always follow this man you believed to be the Son of God. Then just when you thought you would never do what you did…

So when he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and [e]sat down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me, Teacher, and, Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye also should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, A [f]servant is not greater than his lord; neither [g]one that is sent greater than he that sent him.

If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them.
John 13:12-17

Jesus washed each of the disciple’s feet individually. He then said to them, “do this to one another.”  I believe he was saying, “Don’t compare yourself to one another, but serve one another as I have served you.” Peter, John and the other disciples lived, loved and worked with Jesus, yet each one had their individual assignments in the Kingdom of God.

Survivors Guilt

Patmos

I wonder if the Apostle John when he was imprisioned on the island of Patmos, ever considered himself a survivor, battled compassion fatigue or dealt with survivors guilt?

Noah Webster describes “surviver” as one who outlives the other and “survivor” in the real estate terms as a joint tenant; and “In law, the longer liver of two joint tenants, or of any two persons who have a joint interest in anything.”

In her paper Guilt Following Traumatic Events, Kathleen Nader says regarding understanding guilt, “Following traumatic events, an individual may experience “real” guilt for acts of commission or omission that resulted in the physical or emotional endangerment or harm of others. “Imagined” guilt (e.g., survivor guilt, guilt with an element of wishful thinking about one’s ability to act) includes the types of guilt that occur in the absence of having acted harmfully. Both types of guilt include self condemnation, and either can result in harm to self or others (e.g., punishing acts to self or others; the action or elicitation of rejection, disdain and/or punishment).

The Apostle John along with many others was a survivor.  He outlived all the other apostles and was not put to death by being martyrd.

John was the only one of the original disciples not to die a violent death. Instead, he passed away peacefully in Patmos in his old age, sometime around 100 AD.

From what I can glean from his writings he did not suffer any sense of survivors guilt. Perhaps, he was so secure in his purpose and calling along with his relationship with Holy Spirit, that he truly understood this reality; Jesus and eternity were just moments away; just waiting on him to complete his assignment here on earth!

war in heaven

John wrote in Revelation 12:10-12 (The Study Bible):

The War in Heaven
And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, he who accuses them day and night before our God. They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they did not love their lives so as to shy away from death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea; with great fury the devil has come down to you, knowing he has only a short time.”…

bird-from-a-cage.jpg

When someone suffers Survivor’s Guilt, there is always one culprit on the scene. The kingdom of darkness and the accuser of the brethren.  Satan and his dominion will use even the noblest of causes to attack the minds of those who are spared in the most vilest of attacks. God is not the author of evil, war, murder, suicide or even the loss of a beloved spouse who dies before you.  If you are suffering from guilt that is not the direct result of a sin you have not confessed and given over to the Lord, then you are taking on something that is a false burden.  Jesus can and will set you free from this type of pain.

What is next, Lord?

What is next Lord

At the end of 2016, the Lord gave me a vision, “The Tsunami Is Coming. Where Will You Be and What Will You Be Doing?” At that time, I had no idea where I would be going and what I would be doing. You can read this on my blog at  The Coming Tsunami.

colt edited 1985

In 1985 the Lord came into my office and spoke audibly to me at the moment my one-year-old had stopped breathing and turned completely blue. He spoke three words to me, “Marlene, it is time,” then my knees buckled and I hit the ground in a repentance prayer. Deliverance came from many things I’m not proud nor ashamed to share with others.

Six years later, God truly rescued me from things that only He and I know. I was called to serve and share the Gospel with the lost, broken, and hurting; and since then, I have been committed to this. Seasons of visible fruitfulness have come and gone over the years, and the Lord is continuing to teach me that walking by faith doesn’t always mean that we will see the impact we are making or that we won’t have times where the enemy has appeared to have won the battle, at least in our minds.

My pastor recently preached on “Listening.” Of course, my ears perked up because I had just recently read this quote by Beth Moore in her book, The Quest, An Excursion Toward Intimacy with God:

To unplugged ears, the New Testament testifies with deafening volume to the role of adversity and the demand for endurance in the lives of disciples on their sure way to happily ever after. Sometimes God Himself sets up an obstacle course to develop and test the runner’s discipline, stamina, and agility. With His eye around every blind curve in our road ahead, He seeks “to supply what is lacking in (our) faith” (1 Thessalonians 3:10, ESV), so we can run triumphantly.

Satan also attends to our marathon with unanticipated patience, biding his time, studying our patterns and weaknesses. He tempts runners nearby to go rogue and trip us.

I have been so humbled by even the hard places the Lord has allowed me to walk through because now that I am older, I can see clearly the miracles He has done over and over again. He is a supernatural God, and He wants us to be supernatural people.

I don’t have any regrets for the choice I made to choose a Christ-centered life.

In 2013 I joined Globe International in Pensacola, Florida, and started working as administrative support for Missionary Sandy Britnell in the Humanitarian Aid & Child Sponsorship Department. I was blessed to be part of the Globe team, working alongside and getting to know so many wonderful mission minded people. I was also able to take my first overseas missions trips to visit children in crisis and trauma Children of Destiny in Nicaragua, Central America, and Challenge Farm in Kenya, Africa.

In 2016 I felt it was time for me to make a change to go from being a support person in order to pursue full-time ministry/missionary work. I’ve always had a ministry, but the Lord reminded me this latter season would be different. In the Tsunami Vision in 2016, the Lord spoke very clearly, “Marlene, your talents aren’t any good if they are buried, or you are not using them for My purpose and plan. In order to be fully satisfied, you must be willing to be obedient to My leading.”

My passion has always been evangelism and missions work, which includes pastoral care; teaching; and praying for the sick, wounded, and afflicted, particularly women. I’m not your typical foreign field missionary and am more like the discipleship and missionary worker you read about in the New Testament. For the past year, my work was in Alaska working with church leadership, pastors, and students from many different cultural backgrounds, and traumatic situations. There were times I felt shipwrecked, like Paul, but I would not trade the past year for anything! And I do plan to return as the Lord leads.

For the first time in my life since I was a child, I am not working a full-time job. I rely totally on the Lord and others’ support to pay for my travel and ministry expenses. This has been difficult because shifting from being self-sufficient to totally God sufficient is weighty. I have to constantly remind myself to stop looking at the job advertisements.

“Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1-2, ASV).

And so I’ve asked God the question, “What is next, Lord?” As this is probably my last season of life that I am entering, I feel led to look for a place to live and study. When I am there, I will, equip, train, and encourage those He sends my way; and from there I will go to the places where He leads, taking others with me as I go.

There is no lack of crisis and trauma in the world, and plenty of disasters. So, with whatever time, I have left on this earth, I feel it is critical in this season for all of us to ask God the question, “Where do I go from here?” Then to GO!

Walking by total faith and seeking God’s direction in this hour of trouble is not easy for anyone.

follow the narrow road

Being alone at times for me is difficult. If you have a group of women or young people who need to be prayed for and encouraged, I would love to come and speak to them.

I also believe there are many individuals who are discouraged, (especially during the holidays and the traumatic times we are currently experiencing). I want to encourage you to draw near to the Lord, get back into the battle, and to fulfill what the Lord created you to do! If this is you, I would love to hear from you, so I can add you to my vision board and pray for you! My cell is (850)-661-6104. My email is CinderellaReleased@gmail.com.

Again, please consider helping by praying or asking the Lord how you can support me by fasting, praying, or giving financially. Please consider this ministry for your end of the year giving, and/or asking your company or business to consider this ministry as one of your charitable organizations to support in 2018.

Whatever you do, please do it as unto the Lord, and may He get the glory! He has done such great things in our lives.
