Acceleration – It’s Time!

Steve McQueen – 70’s ‘King of Cool’ is spending time with Jesus!

But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment. James 5:12
This year the Lord has been speaking to me saying, Marlene, rather than making a list of resolutions you hope to keep or a bucket list of things you intend to do before you die; why don’t you just make a resolution to let your yes be yes and your no be no. Spend each day on ME, and I will bring you before those who are lost, broken and hurting.
It’s time to stop wasting time! You are a soul care paramedic, just look around you, there are people in crisis, trauma and dying all around you.

I recently watched a documentary movie about Steve McQueen the 70’s bad boy actor which is based on the book Steve McQueen, The Salvation of an American Icon. Once deemed the ‘King of Cool’; McQueen came to know Jesus, the ‘King of Kings’ just before he passed away from cancer at the young age of 50.
McQueen was not a stranger to crisis and trauma. He drank and did drugs to cover his pain and shame. One of the things he said in an interview was that he regreted spending so much time drinking, doing drugs, and wasting time on things that were not of eternal value. He finally did learn that He was loved, treasured, and life had eternal value; something he never experienced or knew growing up.

In this poignant documentary, shortly after Steve made a decision to follow Jesus, he sought out Evangelist Billy Graham, who later autographed and gave him one of his own personal Bibles. McQueen treasured it and had it with him at his death.

And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.
 ~Revelation 12:11 NLT

One of the three words the Lord has given me to reflect on this year is the word acceleration. I’m still learning that no one can move or carry us into the places we need to be, faster than God. And certainly no one can usher in God’s perfect timing better than the Holy Spirit. I found it ironic and interesting that the makers of Steve’s first movie The Blob,  and now this last documentary about his life, were both Christian film makers. God had planted seeds of faith into Steve McQueen’s life long before he became one of Hollywood’s famous!

Steve McQueen loved to live, drive, fly and go at an accelerated pace. Even when he found out he had cancer, he wasted no time in seeking treatment, and God only after taking a good hard look at himself in the mirror.

He realized the mistakes he had made (I believe in God’s perfect timing), and was thankful for and to the Lord who rescued his soul and ended his race on this earth. Steve finished very well and right on time. 

Near the end of his life, he recounts that time is valuable but it is important to use it on the right things, because it goes very quickly.

HourglassIn the ministry the Lord has called me, I come across people every day that need the hope that only comes through building a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our lives here are temporal and none of us are promised tomorrow. We can’t bank our hopes, dreams or even our bucket list. But, we can be assured if we are faithful to trust and obey God, following where He leads,  that when our time is up here on this earth, like Steve, we will hear our Savior’s treasured words “welcome home!”

My call is to help those who are lost, hurting and in bondage to the things in this world that keep them from knowing they will hear these words when their time is up.

I have many partners who are helping me help equip and train others for the harvest that is coming, in our lifetime and beyond.

Do I have a Pharisee’s Heart? A Word about Yom Kippur

Do I have a Pharisee’s Heart?

“Yes, sometimes!”

You may never have heard of Horace Pitkin. He was a missionary to China in the early 1900’s. He wrote to his freinds and basically said, “It definately won’t be long until we (he and his family) find out whether we can serve Him better above or here.” Shortly after the gates of his compound were stormed and he defended two women and was beheaded. His head was offered at a shrine to foreign Gods and his body was thrown into a pit with nine other Christian believers. His wife and baby returned home and his death won many souls to Christ in China.  9/28 Day by Day by Billy Graham

Hopefully, most of us in America will never face this type of persecution, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t live for Christ with this kind of fervor. Are we ready to give an account for who and what we believe; ready and whole heartedly willing to stand up (and even die) for our faith in Jesus?  With factions increasing around us, it isn’t hard to see wickedness increasing.

Matthew 24:12 says it best,

“Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.

How can I keep from growing cold and having an unrepentant heart?

We can’t do this on our own without the help of God. I’ve found the best way to cleanse my soul is to study scripture, pray and then be quiet and listen. This morning I felt the Lord directing me to the story about Jesus’ mother and brothers coming to disrupt his meeting.

 In Matthew 12:47-48, we read:
Someone told Him, “Look, Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to You.” But Jesus replied, “Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?”  Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers.…

Jesus’ mother and brothers were obviously there to do an intervention on Jesus and perhaps “get him out of there.” I have to laugh because after having four sons, I’ve seen myself in this situation many times. Mary probably thought, “He needs my help!”

Any time we think we know better than God we put ourselves where many of the Pharisees in Jesus’ time were. We should only be doing and saying, “What the Father tells us to do and say. This takes building a listening ear and obedient heart. Repentance is about knowing the truth about ourselves, and the truth about who God is. It is understanding our identity in Jesus, but moreso about our relationship with Jesus.

True repentance is a heart issue. This is what makes true disciples.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Matthew 12 is all about Yom Kippur and the importance of true repentance. Check out the subheadings in this passage of scripture. They are:

  1. Jesus is LORD of the Sabbath, (Don’t deny our Creator and His Commandments)
  2. Jesus healed on the Sabbath, (Don’t deny helping others who are lost & sick)
  3. A disciple is God’s Chosen Servant, (Don’t deny God’s Lordship)
  4. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (Don’t deny the Holy Spirit is God)
  5. A Tree is Known by It’s Fruit (Don’t deny the Word of God – Remember what Adam and Eve did?)
  6. The Sign of Jonah (Don’t deny Jesus’ resurrection)
  7. Return of the Unclean Spirit (Don’t Deny to repent totally)
  8. Jesus’ Mother and Brothers (Don’t deny the covenant & familial relationship with Jesus)

Yom Kippur – Begins Evening of September 29th and Ends Evening of September 30th

The Talmud (Yoma 73b) lists the five obligatory “afflictions” (i.e. forbidden pleasures) of Yom Kippur:

  1. Eating and drinking
  2. Bathing
  3. Anointing
  4. Wearing shoes- Read Full Article
  5. Marital relations

Listed above are some of the practices Jews abstain from on Yom Kippur in order to memoralize this time of repentance.

Below are some of the thoughts I had regarding these practices from a heart perspective:

  1. Eating and drinking – Jesus was led into the wilderness for 40 days where He fasted. I believe He did this to set an example for discipleship.  He was tested by the enemy and knows we too will be tested. In Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus spoke to Satan, “Man shall not live by bread alone.” Keeping God as Lord of the Sabbath. Verse 10: Then Jesus said to him, Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve. Jesus is reminding us, you will perish if you don’t eat or drink but you will also starve to death without the bread of life.
  2. Bathing – As sinful man we can not cleanse ourselves. Job asked this question, ‘Can mankind be just before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker? Job 4:17 ESV Jesus through the cross made a way for us to have hope that our impure hearts may be clean. “And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” I John 3:3 ESVThe like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: I Peter 3:21 KJV

  3. Annointing – Abstaining from annointing reminds us that we can’t annoint ourselves.  Jesus ascended to the Father after His resurrection and then they sent the Holy Spirit to anoint and teach us.“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,[a] to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be[b] in you. John 14:15-17 ESV

  4. Wearing Shoes – There are many examples of the importance of shoes and the covenant and respect it holds Biblically.Holiness:Put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.” (Exodus 3:5)
    Promise: And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed” (Deuteronomy 25:9–10) and
    Marriage Covenant: “Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel. Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe” (Ruth 4:7–8).

    In the following two examples we see where bare feet are present and a sign of true repentance, humility and relationship:

    1) His disciples in John 13, He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?” Jesus answered him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” 10 Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet,[a] but is completely clean. And you[b] are clean, but not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, “Not all of you are clean.), and

    2) Luke 7: 36-50, A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.

    I see this woman performing an act of repenting, annointing, bathing and fasting before Jesus, while He has formed a covenant with her by removing His shoes. How humbling this is and what a great woman of faith! How she kept His commandments!

5. Marital Relations – This was a difficult one for me at first because I’m not married. But after prayer, this is what I felt the Holy Spirit saying to me. Go back to the beginning and look at scripture.

All of the five conditions for Yom Kippur deal with the heart, humility and true repentance and relationship.

Genesis 1:27-28

 So God created man in his own image,
  in the image of God he created him;
  male and female he created them.

 

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

In the beginning God created everything including man and woman. In verse 28 God blessed Adam and Eve with the ability to create life and have dominion over every living thing.  God also gave Adam and Eve freewill of when to have marital relations. As an act of worship and denying the flesh, abstaining from intimate marital relationships on Yom Kippur is an act of worship to God.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices–mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law–justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. Matthew 23:23 NIV

“Brothers, do not grow weary in doing good” (2 Thessalonians 3:13).

But in your hearts set Christ apart [as holy—acknowledging Him, giving Him first place in your lives] as Lord. Always be ready to give a [logical] defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope and confident assurance [elicited by faith] that is within you, yet [do it] with gentleness and respect. I Peter 3:15 AMP

 Jesus was posing this question to everyone in the room that day and to each one of us today; “Who is my brother, (sister) and mother (father)?

Lord, Where do we go from here?

As thousands flee in Florida, and thousands more are devastated in Texas, the carribbean and Mexico (as a result of the recent earthquake); I am certain many are praying and asking the question, “Lord, where do we go from here.”

Jesus had just performed two great miracles, the Feeding of the Five Thousand and Walking on the Water (John 6:15)

Jesus then gave a word to the people chastising them about why they were seeking after him.   26Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27“Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.”

Still, the people wondered about what they had to “do” in order to work and serve Him in order to get what they wanted. His words were very clear on what to “do” and the condition our hearts should be in when we are asking the big question, Where do we go from here?

Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” John 6:29

 When we find ourselves in the midst of the storms of life, our only hope and “work” is to do His will. What is His will?

To believe and trust in the one He sent – Jesus, our Lord.

One moment we are living, working, laughing and enjoying the fruit of our labor here on earth, and then in an instant our lives are changed, many times leaving us in a state of emergency, crisis and trauma.  It could be a hurricane, a sickness or disease, or it could be something as seemingly simple as an empty nest leaving us grieving and asking,

“Lord, What is my purpose? What do I do? How will I survive?
Where do I go from here?”

God knows our name, our shame, our sitation and has already established us and prepared a place for us right along side of Him.

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews, 12:2

Lord, where do I go from here? Seek Him, and you will never find yourself lost and without hope. He is the only place we can go and remain steadfast and unshakeable.

Lessons in Life from the World’s Wealthiest Single Mom!

“The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22

God has a purpose when it comes to the resources He provides in my life. Wealth is viewed very differently in every culture.  I’ve had the blessing to visit other countries and places in the United States and to really realize how blessed I am and surrounded by such wealth.   This post is about God’s provision for  me. For many years, I felt being a single mom was one of the most difficult professions on the planet. But, today I am so thankful for all that God has provided for me and my family.

Life’s Lesson # 1 – Provision

“But My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

In 1991 after a financial crisis, my husband and I separated and my two youngest boys and I went to Tallahassee, Florida to live with my older brother, his wife and my nieces Dena and Adrienne. After a few weeks, the Lord provided me with a good job and a one bedroom apartment. My sister-in-law helped me figure out a weekly budget and so I would cash my check and put money aside each week in an envelope, one for each of my bills.  10% of my gross income went directly into the offering plate and $35 per week was our food budget.  It seemed I always had more envelopes than money at the end of the end of the week but I knew God would provide.

Then our first month’s electric bill arrived and I went to get my envelope for the electric.

To my dismay, I had only put away $6. I thought to myself, “How did that happen?”

Holding my breath, I opened the bill and a big cry of relief came when I saw the charge of only $6. But, I did call the electric company immediately. They said the bill was correct and it was probably because it was just the first month’s bill.

I promised myself to put away more the next month. When the next month came, and I opened the electric  bill it was only $12 this time. As you can imagine, I didn’t waste any time calling the electric company.

Their response was,

“Mrs. Hoenig, yes there is a problem. We never got your payment from last month!  This is why it’s $12.”

I said, no, you don’t understand, “This has been the coldest winter in Tallahassee and I run my heat all the time.” The operator said, “I will check the meter and get back with you.”

Well, the fact is I never got a bill that went over $6 a month for the first nine months (the entire time we were in this little apartment).  Our God supplied for our needs abundantly and above anything I could dream or imagine at the time.

God also supplied us with friends and family who provided food, fellowship and lots of fun! We opened up our home each week for dinner on Saturday nights where the boys and I provided the main course. Usually I got the BOGO which always provided a great meal and our friends brought side dishes, desserts and drinks. We always had plenty of leftovers for the rest of the week. Another way we saved money and had fun was going to a local restaurant which had a “Kids Eat Free” night on Wednesday nights. It was a hot food buffet and salad bar. My boys loaded their bellies with plenty of good food and we also had fellowship with many of the families we knew would eat there also.

Choices… we all have to make them

CHOICES – People may often misunderstand your goals, your vision, your mission ~ but keep going, keep striving and continue to push, having faith in the specific calling you have been given! When I read this today the Holy Spirit quickened my spirit. In the area of crisis and trauma care, I see every day where hurting individuals are faced with choices that they weren’t expecting to make or having to live with choices that were made for them.

I recently talked to one of my spiritual sons who was in an accident where a semi-truck made too close a turn and drug him and his motorcycle down the road. It not only caused him to literally being run over and left critically injured and badly broken. He now has to walk with a cane and has severe health issues. He said to me,

“Mom” I can either choose to give up, gripe and B**** about my life. I’ve got to get up and live life to the fullest.”

Throughout his life, I’ve watched this young man battle through many obstacles, some self inflicted and we have had many conversations about his walk with God. He’s still sorting through his life’s purpose and I have no doubt that God is already using him in ways even he can’t see or understand. But, even through his difficult times he has been there for me when I felt like giving up.  He has walked with me through crisis, trauma and hopelessness.

Today happened to be one of those days where I was questioning why things happen and if I should have made different choices.

Our conversation helped steer me and get my mind back to where it should be… on choosing to living and loving myself & others “God’s Way” – not my own.

I’ve got so much to be thankful for. Looking back I see the hard choices I had to make at times, especially when I wondered at the time if they were the right ones.  God has always redeemed even my poor choices into life giving miracles….

Amy did such an amazing job in labor and I am so proud of her!!

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Philippians 4:8

Seeing God’s Face

Hi, there…. (squinching at the lights) I’m so happy to be here tonight! I’ve been asked to tell you about the day my ministry really took off…

You see it is never too late…for us old timers. I’ve put in a lot hours…(fastin’ and prayin) before I got my big break…

 

It didn’t happen like I thought it would. All that work, fasting, praying, why I was a churcha, I mean workaholic for the church…I mean I was a faithful, trustworthy, God fearing Jewish woman who followed all the rules! I was even known as a prophetess, one who could forsee the future.

My name is, Evangelist Anna. Anna is the Greek Version but actually came from Hanna, which means favor and grace. I’m from the tribe of Asher, which means happy.

In Deuteronomy, Moses prophesies that for the tribe of Asher, (my tribe), “your strength will equal your days” (Deuteronomy 33:25).

My life shows evidence of that!

With all that being said you would think my life would be perfect! I am Jewish and I go to the Temple regularly, even 24/7 to pray and I’m usually ALWAYS fasting too. I love to serve Yeshua in the temple…

It is my life… L_I_F_E -! Aah Life! LIVING_ IN_ FAITH_ EVERY DAY!

Why, Serving Him is what I was created to do. I come, I pray and I meditate on the Holy Scriptures… You see they are here and sometimes when no one is here but me, I will unroll them and hide them in my heart.

My father was Phanuel. His name meant Face of God. You will understand in a moment why that’s important.

When others talk about that day, my age is always mentioned! It’s even suggested that I was ancient! It has been of great discussion throughout the centuries. You see it is written that I was a widow of 84 years…. I was married for seven years before my husband passed…. And of course everyone tries to guess how old I was when I got married…. So, If I got married at 14, I could be maybe…105? Or some just think I was 84! What do you think? I think it really doesn’t matter, but what does matter is I had been around a long time and I had and continue to see a lot.

There were many times the enemy tried to distract me from what I was really doing and from purpose and plan God had ordained for me from the beginning. I realize that listening is more important than talking. You just need to listen to God’s voice.

Along with listening, I was waiting…. Waiting for the day that God had promised to me. As a forseer I knew the day would come when I would realize my purpose for serving God would be revealed. It took a long time for me. Maybe it’s taking a long time for some of you too.

Is it taking a long time?

My husband died seven years after we were married. That’s when I started spending a lot of time alone with Yeshua. After he passed, God spoke to me and told me He would provide. And He has. It’s actually an honor and custom to take care of widows and orphans in the Jewish faith. I was blessed to have a family of believers at my side. I’d go to the Temple every day. To Fast, To Pray, To Read the Holy Scriptures! Yes, I was a woman who could read, and very highly regarded by my community.

It set my feet to dancin’! I know what you are thinking. She’s way too old… she’s probably a grandma… Grandma’s sit on the porch and baby sit. Let the young people do the dancin’ and preachin! Well, I’m living proof you are never too old! There is great debate over my age…. At the time… Is she 84 or 105? If she got married at 12 she could be 107!

BUT SHE DOESN’T LOOK THAT OLD!

But that’s not the only reason I’m a little shocking! I’m quite infamous you know! Why in some churches today I would be considered eccentric, outlandish, out of place and even shameful! Being one of the first New Testament women evangelists! My name went down along with some others like Martha, Mary, oh and that Samaritan woman!

She was almost good as me, just kidding!

But one thing I know that my redeemer was alive, and continues to live…now and forever! No one is going to seal these lips…. I know who and what I saw that day!

You know some say women aren’t supposed to speak out, much less be one of the first to lay eyes on the King of Kings, Lord of Lords and the Creator of the Universe! Why that was shocking! But the truth is everyone was electrified that day.

When I looked down into those beautiful little eyes, and touched those rosy red cheeks, I knew, yes I knew what, where, whom and why this little baby boy was here! Emmanuel the prince of peace… God was finally with us! Thousands of years of prophecy fulfilled in a little tiny baby boy.

Imagine this! My heart nearly exploded in my chest! Yes, it was mixed with great joy, and great sorrow at the same time. I knew my life purpose had just been fulfilled and my service was nearly over. But, I was ready! Ready to go home, because God had just unleashed every promise He had ever made me right then before my very eyes!

Joseph and Mary brought that baby in and when they entered the temple the atmosphere changed. It was if I had heard a clap of thunder break the sound barrier. Simeon saw, felt and heard it too… and most likely everyone else.

And then I watched and listened in wonder to Simeon. Simeon and I had been waiting, waiting a long time for the consolation of Israel.

Simeon was full of the Holy Ghost and told me God had promised him, like me, that we would not see death before we saw the LORD’s Christ.

It was dedication day at the temple…. And when the young parents handed the baby to Simeon, Simeon began to bless God! Why he could barely contain himself! I thought to myself, well I’m the prophetess, but we were all blessing God! It was his jumping up and down that made me a little nervous….

Simeon was ancient like me, I was afraid he’d drop that baby! But he didn’t but I will never forget his words….

29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

33 And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken of him.

34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

35Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

God himself spoke that day through Simeon and in one look from this Holy Child to us. I saw the Face of God! Praise God! My father Phanuel, that was what his name means Face of God!

  • As I pulled down the storage shed door, “I wondered if I would ever see any of  my belongings which held so many precious memories – again?” 
  • This is what it must have felt like for the early missionaries who packed their belongings in their coffins and said Goodbye to family members, heirlooms, friends, etc.
  • Not only did I say goodbye to stuff that day, very soon I would say goodbye to my sons, their wives and my grandchildren.  I was off to Alaska – The Last Frontier!I remember the moment years ago when I sang so emphatically:
  • “Lord, here I am send me to the nations.”  Little did I know that would be to many nations– all in one state!

  • Alaska Facts You could fit Florida in to Alaska 10 times! One-fifth the size of the Lower 48, Alaska is bigger than Texas, California, and Montana combined.
  • Alaska is also far-flung: 5.3 times wider (east to west) and 3.2 times taller (north to south) than Florida. On numerous occasions when I shut storage doors; I knew that someday I would return, unpack and set up a home where food, fun, Bible studies and laughter would eventually be shared again with family and friends.  The past few years in Pensacola have been joyfully shared with family and dear friends, however I was never able to unpack and set up camp. 

It has been a little like the Israelites in the wilderness. The Israelites had to move on when the cloud by day or the fire by night prompted them to follow. So in planning for this change, I felt a shift as I shut the door – it was different. All of the makings of a home; furniture, dishes, sheets, blankets, curtains, decorative pillows and cooking utensils were now gone and I feel a new season ahead!  As my friend Debby calls it, “You are a tramp (I prefer the word “traveler”) for the Lord!”

I am also saying goodbye to family, friends, my church home, and a climate that is very palatable year round. The comforting peace of the Lord has helped me through the emotional – letting go of these precious moments in order to say;

“Yes, Lord, I’ll go…. Send Me!  I’m excited to meet  and greet my new friends and family!

The nostalgia of this moment reminds me of the words to the song Elvis would sing, “Memories pressed between the pages of my mind.”

Then I heard the voice of the Lord say to me,

“It’s enough.”  

I questioned, “Your grace?”  He said,

“Yes, My Grace is enough but  Jesus’ sacrifice is enough to carry you on through the next season, rest in Me and in the provision, purpose and power that I will provide for you.”

I will put My laws upon their heart, And on their minds I will write them,” Hebrews 10:16b

HE HAS ALREADY PREPARED THE HEARTS AHEAD!  

 

Jesus sacrifice contains the provision  and the grace for what I need for the journey ahead.

A few months ago I received two very confirming words: 

1) I would be a mother to the nations, and
2) I would be fully satisfied finding the treasures God had planted in the people and the path ahead.  Isaiah 54:11b-12  says;

I’ve been asked several times from friends and family… What is a crisis and trauma care missionary and how will live?

What is a missionary?  mis·sion·ar·y ˈmiSHəˌnerē/  

We are all called to “GO” – The Word Missionary is not a scriptural word, but is used to explain how the disciples and others followed Jesus’ command to “Go” and make disciples.  As a believer and disciple of Christ, we are all under the same mandate. The method of our “going” may look different, but whether it is here in America or a foreign field, the mandate to share the gospel, teach  God’s Word, and equip or mentor others is the same!

“The Lord Jesus did not express His commission as a desire or a wish or a premonition of what might happen in the future. He spoke it as a command. He ordered, “Go . . . make disciples . . . baptizing . . . teaching”. These words were not an option to be considered among other options by those to whom He spoke. He here was presenting His marching orders for His disciples which were to be obeyed, no matter what the result might be. And failure to obey these orders would rightly bring into question whether one truly was a follower of this Master.” David Merck: Pastor

 a person sent on a religious mission, especially one sent to promote Christianity in a foreign country.

So, my commission is to go where God says to go and do what He tells me to do.  This is a daily, hourly and even sometime minute by minute process. Crisis and trauma strikes when we least expect it, or even sometimes in the middle of great men and women of God who are working hard to follow God themselves.

It is important working in the midst of caring, to self-care.  Please pray that I will take my own advice! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers!
