Emergency Text Alert!

Suddenly Emergency Text Alert!!

As I’m literally writing this blog, I get a text on my phone, “Did you say you are flying to Florida in two days? Have you seen the weather channel?  Will Tropical Storm Alberto affect your travel?  So I did what most of us do, I googled the weather channel and pulled up the map below then thought, “Ok Lord, I know that I’m going where you have led me. But, into a hurricane, now?”

Subtropical Storm Alberto

God really has a sense of humor. I’m flying into Pensacola, Florida this very same Tuesday morning scheduled to arrive at 8:30 a.m. from Alaska. My path is headed directly into the path of now subtropical storm Alberto at the exact time the storm is predicted to hit the Pensacola area.

I have a peace about flying in and know that my steps are ordered of God. Sometimes we don’t know why…we have to walk through certain circumstances or head directly into a storm center. We aren’t sure what the outcome will be.

This reminded me of a conversation I had years ago with one of my Sunday School teachers and fellow brothers in the Lord who was walking through some serious health issues. I shared with him what the Lord had shown me. I told him I see a “light coming at the end of a tunnel”.

His reply, “I hope it’s not the headlight of a freight train!”

William and his wife Sheila are always full of humor, even in the midst of crisis, trauma and transition. Whenever we are in seasons of our lives where the circumstances look like calamity is on the horizon, remember what the Lord says about calamity.

They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the LORD was my stay.
Psalm 18:18

Face of God

When I was in Asia recently and looking into the faces of my two grandson’s Jonah and Hudson, I encountered total unconditional love and unspeakable joy. I observed how they cling to their mother when they are tired and hungry, but aren’t afraid to explore and be themselves in the presence of their mom and dad. When they are alone with their daddy and they run, jump, and get a little more daring in their exploration and play adventures.

They haven’t learned about the dangers and pitfalls that are outside their walls of protection. Whenever they do experience bumps, bruises or sickness, they know their mom and dad will be quick to gather them and soothe their hurts.

As one who knows the loving face of God, my desire and prayer for them is that they will grow up and experience the joy of salvation, healing and unconditional love of God.

Amy Jonah Hudson Windo

Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeahRead full Lyrics Reckless Love by Cory AsburyRead full Lyrics Reckless Love by Cory Asbury

Recently Pastor Dennis, of Northgate Alaska church was teaching on the Face of God and told a story about his granddaughter Heidi, He said, “One of Heidi’s first words was Agoo.” Even though no one exactly knew what this word meant, her joy and laughter was very endearing. She recognized that she was able to totally engage and capture the hearts of her loved ones during these face to face encounters, especially with her grandfather.

Every person is born with a “joy center” in their brain. These types of exchanges between each of us launches waves of joy and excitement and creates unforgettable memories. Face to face encounters provides a sense of love, safety and security that all children need, especially in the formative years. Both science and God’s Word tells us how important it is to stimulate and train the “joy centers” of our brains which can only come through face-to-face encounters.

During these face-to-face times of communication Jonah, Hudson, and Heidi knows they are the objects of complete panim and shalom.

Brain’s Control Center Overview – LifeModel.org

The Matsu Valley in Alaska has been recorded as the worst place to grow up in Alaska, and perhaps the State of Alaska has one if not the highest rank as being one of the worst places in the United States to bring up a child.

Northgate Burn

Northgate Alaska is one of the churches in the Mat-Su Valley who has declared war on this statistic and  has made it part of their local and global mission to create a community that is actively constructing a face to face pathway to train up and raise their children to experience a face to face relationship with the living God. They have been meeting for 18 years for a time of worship, praise, prayer and intercession for their community, state, nation and world. The group called Northgate Burn meets face to face with God each week.

Peniel, panim, is Hebrew for face or faces of God.

Scripture tells us God and Adam and Eve would meet face to face. Adam and Eve had been walking in the garden God created for them to live and meet until one day Satan disguised as a serpent came and tempted them. Genesis 3

Sin (doubt and unbelief) entered into Adam and Eve and they felt ashamed of what they had done (their sinfulness) and they hid from God. Genesis 3:8 says,

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

Genesis 3 8

I thought about Heidi and how innocent she was when she was communicating with her granddaddy, saying Agoo! At these times she is totally safe in these face to face encounters.

Imagine someone coming into her life, or your life and saying, “Don’t trust him, there are things that are better for you than this, and if you experience it (or just take this bite), your life will be so much better?”

Once our innocence and trust is broken, doubt, unbelief and a host of other sinful thoughts begin to turn our joy into ungodly thoughts and eventually desires. It is difficult many times for us, like it was for Adam and Eve to understand WHY?

God does allow us and those we know and love to experience hurt, brokenness, and the effects of sin. It seems like we are unprotected.  But, God’s unconditional love for us and for mankind is always available and never negates His desire to be with us face to face.

God loves us so much He sent his son to restore a never ending life with Him. When we accept and follow His plan of redemption we are empowered to overcome sin and death in all of it’s ugly forms.

colt and kiss (1)

God’s intentions are always to restore us to this face-to-face position with him. He banished Adam and Eve from the garden, but continued to provide for them.

Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
Genesis 3:21

Vest

I don’t find it any coincidence in the story of Anna the Prophetess that her father’s name was Phanuel which means face of God.

Luke 2:35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed—and a sword will pierce your soul as well.” 36There was also a prophetess named Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, who was well along in years. She had been married for seven years, 37and then was a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.…

Anna worshiped day and night in the temple and waited, for the day she had been promised to see the Jehovah’s face. After recognizing the baby she became one of the first Christian evangelists.
She was also standing in it at that hour and she gave thanks to THE LORD JEHOVAH and was speaking about him with everyone who was waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. Luke 2:38
Because of the fall of man, God was not going to give up on mankind. So in an instant faster than we can even imagine, He devised the plan of redemption through the second Adam, Yahushua. The Hebrew Bible uses Yehoshua (יְהוֹשֻׁעַ) for Joshua, which means “Yah is Salvation.” Christians, historians, and linguists outside the sacred name movement for the most part reject the term Yahshua (יהשע) in favor of Yeshua (ישוע) as the original pronunciation.

And every priest stands ministering daily and
offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
But this Man,
after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever,
sat down at the right hand of God,
from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.
For by one offering
He has perfected forever those who are being [d]sanctified.

Hebrews 10:11-14

When we realize we have sinned and have been sinned against, we can regain our original position God gave Adam and Eve and all mankind through the plan of salvation and redemption God provided in and through Jesus.

hammock.JPG

Coming to Jesus as a little child puts us in the same position of innocence and complete humbleness that enables us to receive eternal life, and all of the benefits of becoming His child.

What God wants from us, is a face-to face encounter.  I hear the voice of God say,

“Stop struggling, It’s time for you to trust me, and let down the walls and those hidden places of sin that separate you and I from being totally “face to face”.”

Rain & Seal Guts

Seal Gut
Above is a picture of an actual seal gut raincoat that is on display at the Dorothy Page Museum located in the Mat-Su Valley of Alaska

One of the things that never ceases to amaze me is the resiliency of the Alaskan people and their ability to live off the land. What they do to protect themselves from God’s extreme weather in Alaska is truly amazing!

Above are other Alaskan artifacts Dorothy Page Museum located in Wasilla, Alaska in the Mat-Su valley. Hatcher’s Pass and the Independance Mine are also located in the valley. Seal furs, skins and even the guts (intestines) were used to make and provide clothing which would keep out the icy rain, snow and provide warmth in the very sub zero temperatures.

Slide

During my visit at the museum I was able to meet with Bethany Follett, the museum’s curator. She and I talked about several of the displays and the people who pioneered and settled this area as well as the native community. There are so many different cultures, nations and pioneering men and women who have built the community of Wasilla and the surrounding Mat-Su Valley.

Because of Alaska’s unique and extreme climate, it is important to maintain the principle of working long hours in the summer to prepare for the long and hard winters. One of those pioneer women is Northgate Church Discipleship Leader, Amberly Brejah. She and her husband built a play slide, inside their home, from their top to the bottom floor. This allows their children to play and get exercise during the long and harsh Alaskan winters. I thought this was amazing and so did Bethany! It is important for children to be able to laugh and play, especially in the Mat-Su Valley which has been designated as one of mostdifficult places in Alaska to raise a child.

Every Thursday evening, Northgate opens their church doors and has a worship, praise and prayer meeting. It is a sweet time of worship, intercessory prayer and declaring God’s Word over the Mat-Su Valley, State, nation and the world. Watch YouTube Video.

I believe God is helping men and women create “witty inventions” in this hour to reverse these statistics!  With Generation Z being labled as the “loneliest generation” it is important to share the good news radically!

I remember when my sons were growing up their baseball coach put in a pitching and batting cage in our backyard. In Tallahassee, Florida they were able to use this wonderful addition to our home year round just like Amberly’s children in the Mat-Su Valley!

You can't stop lava flow.jpg

There is a lava flow in Hawaii that isn’t stopping. The wind blew an avalanche of rocks into the road today. The Lord said, “The earth is crying out in travail, it is praising a God that can’t be stopped.

God created mankind to praise and worship him. Let your soul and spirit cry out in travail, cry out in praise and overcome the darkness wherever you go – wherever your feet may tread.

Psalm 33

Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.

For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.

The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him
For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.

From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind;
from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth—
he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.

No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength
A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.
But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.

Road Rocks

God sent His Son, the Holy One of Israel, Yeshua (Jesus) to redeem mankind from their sins and from the evil one. He will deliver those who will follow Him from the darkness and into His marvelous light!

The Lord God says,

“You who are His voice, You who are His people, You who are His followers and disciples, go now into all the earth and declare His salvation, deliverance and healing to those who are lost and broken and it is I who will deliver them!

Don’t let a rock, a mountain, a volcano, a wind, or an earthquake cry out for you!”

And as He told the disciples where to get a Colt for him to ride on those who were following him began to cry out in praise.

And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

DADDY, JESUS AND COFFEE

IMG_7191
Baggs Fruit & Produce 2017 Established 1955

Daddy, Jesus and Coffee – Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today May 5th – 2018

My dad would have been 96 today.  It seems like an eternity since I moved to help my younger brother Keith take care of him in 2006.

Baggs Fruit and Produce Market was his life. He and my mom established it July 4th weekend 1955 and it is still in operation. I once asked my dad if he ever minded going to work, (this was when he was 89)? He simply said, “I look forward to waking up every morning and having a place to go that is mine and that I love!” He truly loved the produce market and he loved to watch things grow. He could look at a baby sprout in the field with bad eyesight and tell you what the crop was. He was a great farmer, like his daddy ~12th generation.

It has been six years since his 90th birthday and his passing along. I still miss my daddy. I miss fixing him breakfast and listening to his comforting laugh and silly jokes and the way one eyebrow would raise when he was pulling my leg about something or telling a story that he knew was getting my undivided attention. This was how my daddy showed he cared, telling stories and getting the laughs. I loved the tall tales!  Now, my son Maverick and his son Jonah have this same trait.  The Lord is so good! Below is a story about a day with my dad. I call it Daddy, Jesus and Coffee.

This is a Repost from May 20, 2012

This morning (May 20, 2012) my daddy went to his heavenly home.
He is finally at peace, running, jumping and probably drinking coffee with Jesus! The last few years have been quite a struggle for him. He didn’t like being bedridden and he was tired of being sick and tired. The last time I prayed with him, he said he felt like a “zombie.”  My dad could describe his feelings in one word or one sentence matter of fact statements.  Usually the humor expressed subtly would hit you a few hours later, giving you a fresh appreciation of his wisdom. My daddy was one of the hardest workers I’ve ever known.  Over the past three years, he had gone from getting up early, going to work seven days a week 364 days a year (he always took off Christmas), to being barely able to get out of bed.

Only after extreme doses of chemo therapy and radiation, at the ripe old age of 87, he lost his strength. His mind remained “sharp as a tack” and like I said earlier, he always had a quick wit about him…even to the very end of his life here on earth.

One of his favorite sayings was, “I don’t care which way the wind blows as long as I get a little breeze.” His last birthday was May 6th and he was 90 years old, now he is in eternity. The Lord wants us to honor our parents so we can live a long life.  He honored his daddy who lived to be 96!

I was blessed to have had my daddy and the stories he shared with me over the years. I will miss him. Below is a story I wrote a few years ago, called The Coffee Cup.

96ca7-the2bcoffee2bcup

The Coffee Cup
Dear Seed Sower Deb,

You asked about my dad. This morning I’m home with him. His heart is getting weaker and weaker but he is still able to crack a joke. I always make coffee when he stays home and this morning I took him another cup. Usually I take him a small delicate cup, but this one was heavier. He needs the exercise!

Of course he lays down and drinks his coffee because he is weak. I poured him a refill and he said, “This is the height of laziness.” (He meant, laying in bed drinking coffee.)

He keeps asking me if his brain is ok? He’s worried about becoming demented. I assure him he’s still all there. This has been a serious learning experience being at home with my dad who is 87. I’ve learned a lot and I’ve been blessed to be loved alot.

He is always thankful for every little thing and rarely complains. One thing I’ve noticed is that he is able to discern whenever he is anxious about something. He knows and understands whether or not something is a matter that you should get upset about.

He says, “my nerves are bad, I get upset over something I shouldn’t get upset over.”

This reminded me of Phil 4:6 “Be careful (anxious)for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

For those of you out there with older parents…appreciate their wisdom….and love their life….that all may go well with you and you will live a long life. For more about his produce market he started in 1955 check out

Claressa ~ A very fruitful woman!

Claressa Now
Claressa with her two children 2017

Story and Testimony written with Clarissa’s permission

I first met Claressa while I was working as the manager of a shelter for homeless women. She came seeking a place to live and to get back on her feet.  She had two little children but they were with her sister. In our interview she didn’t tell me why.

Like myself, and so many others I’ve come to know, counsel and love over the years, the world was not her friend, it never would be, and thinking it can be is foolish. There is a god of this world and he is our enemy. He hates God, and he hates God’s children. Like in the story of the Good Samaritan, Claressa had been robbed, beaten and left on the side of the road for dead. The enemy counted Claressa out.

The human spirit can endure in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?
 Proverbs 18:14

I remember her like she was a frightened little child who had just fallen off her trike and was still in shock. Of course she felt to blame because she was riding where she probably knew she shouldn’t be riding, but after all what other option does a woman of her background do in her situation? Here she was, homeless, childless, husbandless and hopeless (well not quite totally hopeless).

During the course of our conversation, she never cast blame on anyone else for her current homeless  and dark situation. She claimed, “It was all her fault she should have done better. I’m trying to trust the Lord! I just don’t understand why He isn’t helping me. All I want is my children back and I will do anything to make that happen.”

It wasn’t until later when we were helping build her case for court that she mentioned she was the only one employed with a baby, a son who was paralyzed from the waist down, caring for an abusive brain injured husband, walking to work, dropping off her baby girl to daycare every day, cooking, cleaning and attending church regularly. It is obvious then and it is even more obvious now, Claressa was suffering from fatigue, burn-out and most likely PTSD and Complex Stress disorder. She was also spiritually abused.

To make matters worse her husband’s family who were also her spiritual leaders; had given her ill advice regarding the care of both her handicapped husband and son which ultimately made matters worse on her. Until you here the rest of the story, it is hard to imagine how any good could come out of this!

That first day she was trying to convince me she was worthy of a place in our home. When Claressa gets nervous she has a similar habit much like my self. I try to convince people I’m worthy of their love when in fact, that is or never will be the case. People are flawed, read the story of the Good Samaritan. Yet, I understood her brokenness and shattered heart. She didn’t need anything other than a place where God could touch her, and tell her how special she was, and that “she was worthy… worthy enough to die for.” This is how Jesus feels about us all!

I recognized her need for someone to “listen” and “hear” the desires of her heart, “To love God, serve others and be a part of a community that would love and respect her for who she really was.” One of the main issues as with many of the men and women I counsel, was Claressa’s need to recognize her identity in Christ.” After our meeting I was determined that God had called me to respect Claressa and help her no matter what it cost me.

Below is a portion of Claressa’s testimony; one I’m proud to be part of…

November 5, 2007 changed my life forever trusting God was absolute. I called my mom that morning and told her I loved her. That was the last time I ever talked to her!

I was at work and I felt disturbed all day. I received a call from a State Trooper. I met them downstairs I saw my sister and I was quite shocked. The trooper gently but right away said our mom was dead from a car accident. We cried hysterically but the Holy Ghost gave me utterance and I prayed in the Spirit!

The Holy Spirit comforted and calmed me down. God said you have to trust me!
I stopped crying and then told my sister and she pushed me away. People hugged us. This particular guy hugged me and he too felt the Holy Ghost. They said my son and dad were in the hospital. They were in critical condition, but steady. I saw my dad on blood stained the sheets by his broken legs. He was lying there, but God gave me strength.

My son became paralyzed from the injury. The doctors told me he had swelling but he would walk again. I was relieved. I went to church and prayed. Through the course of the week the Lord told me I could call Him my friend.

Satan tried his best to depress me and blame God. In the midst of his attack,

“I said no God is with me. Then God said to me, Now I can call you my friend!”

My son was in so much pain. They transported him and I to Jacksonville to Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital. They said, “He will never walk again.

But even today I am standing on the promise God told me. The Holy Spirit woke me from sleeping. I prayed and the Holy Spirit said, “Hear me, don’t listen to man, Matthew will walk again.”

The next day his uncle came over and if God has not healed him by now he would never heal him. I said no! It’s been over 10 years but I’m believing God to make my son Matthew Kevin Johnson whole. Two months after the accident my father died.

The moral of the story regardless how painful and dark God will walk with u every step of the way. I never thought in a million years that my parents will die at 60 and 61 years of age. I literally trusted God. My parents were my backbone and my everything. I prayed with my mother everyday. She was accepting of the calling. I loved her and our relationship.

Today I can say the Lord is my light and salvation whom shall I fear the Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid.

Five years after this tragedy, in 2010, I lost my children to the state system for three years! My son was home alone with his father, and in another accident. I was held responsible because of my husband’s condition. He and his family abandoned us and left us for dead. No one ever thought I would get them back in full custody. That is another long story.

I lost my job, my husband and my friends.

Nevertheless the Proverbs 21:1 came alive in my life,  “The heart of king is in the hand of the Lord; he can turns it like rivers.”

I went to jail for 72 days, to complete the order the first judge gave me. I had no contact with my ex family. I stayed at the Chelsea house for six months before I went to jail.

That was an experience I will never forget. God gave me a place to stay. I was in an argument with my sister. I fasted the next day. God dealt with Marlene and opened the doors to the Chelsea house. I can remember the day like yesterday. I tried to fix myself up in conversation.

She stopped me and said you are in. I could not believe it. God used me in jail to pray for others and even though my life has been challenging God has seen me through.

Today, I have full custody of my children, an apartment, and a 2 year degree from Tallahassee Community College and waiting to be accepted into Florida A and M University.

God can turn your life around from betrayal and broken heart.

Trust God with all your heart and lean not to your understanding. Proverbs 3:4-5.

2018 ~ Dave Wottle Kick & Year of Your Second Wind

“Recently I felt the Lord say, Marlene, 2018 will be a year of acceleration, fruitfulness and you will catch a second wind if you don’t give up!”

This was confirmed recently by a prophetic word from Gale Sheehan : 2018 Open Doors in the Eye of the Storm,

Just like the “eyewall” represents the strongest wind, many times the last step to victory may seem the hardest. Just like a long-distance runner needs to break through the “wall” to receive a “second wind” to finish a race, we will need a spiritual “second wind” in our spiritual races to finish. The “second wind” brings a time of refreshing and renewal. 2018 is a year appointed for the “second wind” from the Lord. Gayle Sheehan – Read Full Article

In 1972 there was a famous collegiate runner who won the 1972 Olympic gold medal in Munich Germany for the 800 meter race. His finish time was 1:44.3.  He was also well known for two other things;

1) He would run wearing a tattered old golf hat to hold back his long hair and;
2) His sudden burst of energy, speed and second wind ~ known as the:
Dave Wottle Kick!

It is this Dave Wottle Kick or second wind which overrides a person’s desire to give out and into defeat or exhaustion. Striding for and finding this invigorating and refreshing second breath or kick of wind enables runners and athletes to go the extra mile, two or more.

It is not only athletes who need or may find this second wind. There are those whom often find themselves in the middle of emergencies, trauma, crisis or even “normal life today.”  I know I often need the mind set of Dave Wottle telling myself,

I’m not going to give in or up till I’ve crossed the line!”

Dave Wottle was a determined 22 year old in spite of opposition. Wottle married just six days after the Olympic trials started.  Being a newlywed worried his coach. Wottle (still married 40 years later spoke about his coach in a 2012 interview:

“He was old-school, and I’m trying to think how to put this tactfully,” Wottle said, “but he thought women weaken legs.”

He also  injured his knee in training just before these games. Dave had two very good reasons to “give in or up,” but  as I see it, he did just the opposite, he pressed in harder.

The writer in Hebrews 12:1-2 tells us as Christians not to give up or in when we feel like it, but to press onward,

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

When we are running our race for the Lord; when the net of sin trys to surround us, let’s fix our eyes on Jesus, accelerate our pace toward the track, the Lord has already paved before us, trusting that He will give us the wind of the Holy Spirit and the “Dave Wottle Kick” to finish our race!
