The Coming Tsunami… Where will you be and what will you be doing?

The Coming Tsunami… Where will you be and what will you be doing?

military-vehicle

I dreamed I was in a military vehicle being deployed when all of a sudden all I could see were vehicles going under what appeared to be an infinity pool.

infinity pool.jpeg

One minute everything was normal and the next, all I could see was water and vehicles going under.

tsunami

As I watched in horror I felt a tremendous need to yell and tell the driver not to turn onto the upcoming bridge because the water was coming that direction.  The sound of the trucks and the approaching wave drowned out my voice.  It was obvious we would turn onto the bridge and be directly in its’ path.

psunami-bridge

My next recollection was being out of the truck and walking not on the water but on vehicles, boxes, containers and debris that were submerged in the water.  I felt young and able to lightly jump from one floating debris onto another as if I was walking on chunks of floating ice.

debris

As I got to the end of all of the floating debris and the wave had passed, I looked out into the massive ocean of water beyond and thought to myself,

“Lord, is this my end?  What have I done.  Will the next thing I see be your face?  Will the next thing I hear be ‘Well done, good and faithful servant?'”

standing-out-on-water

The next thing I remember thinking is “I’ve waited too long to step out.”  I don’t think I’m ready for this moment.  There is something else I need to do, but I’m not quite certain what my assignment is?

Then, I remember The Parable of the Three Talents and the servant who buried their talent because of fear.  (Matthew 25:14-30) I cried out in my sleep, “Lord, don’t let me be afraid, help me to risk it all.”

buried-talent

I felt the Lord saying,

Marlene, your talents aren’t any good if they are buried, or you are not using them for My purpose and plan.  In order to be fully satisfied you must risk them all for MY SAKE.

So, with this said, I made the decision to risk it all, give it all, trust it all to Him.  The author and finisher of my faith.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2

Ice Road Trucker Missionary

Ice Road  Trucker Missionary

alaska.jpeg

  • As I pulled down the storage shed door, “I wondered if I would ever see any of  my belongings which held so many precious memories – again?”
  • This is what it must have felt like for the early missionaries who packed their belongings in their coffins and said Goodbye to family members, heirlooms, friends, etc.
  • Not only did I say goodbye to stuff that day, very soon I would say goodbye to my sons, their wives and my grandchildren.  I was off to Alaska – The Last Frontier!I remember the moment years ago when I sang so emphatically:
  • “Lord, here I am send me to the nations.”  Little did I know that would be to many nations– all in one state!

    alaska-florida

  • Alaska Facts You could fit Florida in to Alaska 10 times! One-fifth the size of the Lower 48, Alaska is bigger than Texas, California, and Montana combined.
  • Alaska is also far-flung: 5.3 times wider (east to west) and 3.2 times taller (north to south) than Florida. From north to south, Alaska measures 1420 miles, the distance from Denver to Mexico City, and east to west 2500 miles, the distance from Savannah, GA to Santa Barbara, CA. Florida has 262 times more people per square mile.
  • If Florida’s population density were the same as Alaska’s, only 64,996 people would live in Florida rather than 17,019,068 (based on 2003 data). Alaska has 8 times as much inland water (in lakes, reservoirs, and rivers) as Florida. In fact, Alaska has 3 million lakes over twenty acres big. Alaska has more than 50% of the entire U.S. coastline, or 6,640 miles. Florida has 1,350 miles of coastline!

Beach Picture - Copy

On numerous occasions when I shut storage doors; I knew that someday I would return, unpack and set up a home where food, fun, Bible studies and laughter would eventually be shared again with family and friends.  The past few years in Pensacola have been joyfully shared with family and dear friends, however I was never able to unpack and set up camp.

It has been a little like the Israelites in the wilderness. The Israelites had to move on when the cloud by day or the fire by night prompted them to follow. So in planning for this change, I felt a shift as I shut the door – it was different. All of the makings of a home; furniture, dishes, sheets, blankets, curtains, decorative pillows and cooking utensils were now gone and I feel a new season ahead!  As my friend Debby calls it, “You are a tramp (I prefer the word “traveler”) for the Lord!”

I am also saying goodbye to family, friends, my church home, and a climate that is very palatable year round. The comforting peace of the Lord has helped me through the emotional – letting go of these precious moments in order to say;

“Yes, Lord, I’ll go…. Send Me!  I’m excited to meet  and greet my new friends and family!

The nostalgia of this moment reminds me of the words to the song Elvis would sing, “Memories pressed between the pages of my mind.”

Then I heard the voice of the Lord say to me,

“It’s enough.”

I questioned, “Your grace?”  He said,

“Yes, My Grace is enough but  Jesus’ sacrifice is enough to carry you on through the next season, rest in Me and in the provision, purpose and power that I will provide for you.”

I will put My laws upon their heart, And on their minds I will write them,” Hebrews 10:16b

HE HAS ALREADY PREPARED THE HEARTS AHEAD!

Jesus sacrifice contains the provision  and the grace for what I need for the journey ahead.

A few months ago I received two very confirming words:

1) I would be a mother to the nations, and
2) I would be fully satisfied finding the treasures God had planted in the people and the path ahead.  Isaiah 54:11b-12  says;

I’ve been asked several times from friends and family… What is a crisis and trauma care missionary and how will live?

What is a missionary?  mis·sion·ar·y ˈmiSHəˌnerē/

We are all called to “GO” – The Word Missionary is not a scriptural word, but is used to explain how the disciples and others followed Jesus’ command to “Go” and make disciples.  As a believer and disciple of Christ, we are all under the same mandate. The method of our “going” may look different, but whether it is here in America or a foreign field, the mandate to share the gospel, teach  God’s Word, and equip or mentor others is the same!

“The Lord Jesus did not express His commission as a desire or a wish or a premonition of what might happen in the future. He spoke it as a command. He ordered, “Go . . . make disciples . . . baptizing . . . teaching”. These words were not an option to be considered among other options by those to whom He spoke. He here was presenting His marching orders for His disciples which were to be obeyed, no matter what the result might be. And failure to obey these orders would rightly bring into question whether one truly was a follower of this Master.” David Merck: Pastor

Missionary – noun

 a person sent on a religious mission, especially one sent to promote Christianity in a foreign country.

synonyms:  Evangelist, apostle, proselytizer, preacher

adjective

 of, relating to, or characteristic of a missionary or a religious mission.

“missionary work”

So, my commission is to go where God says to go and do what He tells me to do.  This is a daily, hourly and even sometime minute by minute process. Crisis and trauma strikes when we least expect it, or even sometimes in the middle of great men and women of God who are working hard to follow God themselves.

It is important working in the midst of caring, to self-care.  Please pray that I will take my own advice! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers!

Insecurity “I”s that will incinerate you!

Insecurity

No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. I Corinthians 10:13-14

Idolatry is putting anything or anyone before the Lord. It is a subtle form of insecurity. It is easy to try and please others, especially as Christians.  We will tell subtle lies in order not to hurt someone’s feelings, and we may read other’s actions as contrary to our own welfare, and make assumptions.

Both are traps….from the enemy.  The Corinthian church had these same issues.  The enemy will tempt us…. but God, said He has already taken care of this for us in advance!

Whenever we feel these things try to tempt us…. Run!  Insecurity will incinerarte you and God’s plans for you! Run from insecurity…. Run into the security of Jesus!

Blessings,

Cinderella Released…from ashes to beauty.

Inflammation “I”s that will Incinerate You

eye inflammation

I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. Jeremiah 33: 6b (NIV)

The second phase of healing a wound (there are four) is inflammation. Inflammation means to ignite or set on fire. The process is part of our body’s defense system and actually helps to heal a wound or injury. After a wound has occurred (blood is clotting) the small blood vessels change and allow blood (plasma, blood proteins, and white cells) to enter the area around the injury – it swells. This increase in fluids (blood) accompanies or causes pain, Screen Shot 2015-07-02 at 11.39.12 AMloss of function, redness and a “hot to the touch” sensation. Discharging pus is a part of this process. We tend to try and control/stop inflammation but it is needed after a wound for healing; if inflammation does not get rid of the problem or continues that is chronic inflammation and can lead to other health issues.

The parallels of physical inflammation to spiritual inflammation are noteworthy. After the initial shock of a wound we will feel pain, possibly stop doing things, and be touchy; these are natural but it is because “life” (blood) is trying to flood back in. We may/should let loose bad stuff (pus) as part of our healing. In this stage if we don’t get rid of “stuff” it will stay around and cause other more serious problems or at least delay our healing.

∞ Lord Jesus, we know wounds will come but thank you for healing. Holy Spirit thank you for taking ALL things and using them to bring us closer to Jesus and the Father. Amen.

Indigestion – “I”s That Will Incinerate You

Indigestion

“For my groaning comes at the sight of my food, And my cries pour out like water.”
Job 3:24

Which comes first, indigestion or groaning?  The truth is that your health can be ruined because of the way stress, crisis and trauma is handled in your life.  It is important that you recognize the early signs and warnings that indigestion can bring.

Learning to develop an “attitude of gratitude” even when things aren’t going particularly the best, will serve you well in the long run.  Also, being thankful for what God has blessed you with is very important.  Forgiveness, self-control, thankfulness and plain old perseverance can help you through the times of hardship, testing and trials. This will keep your digestive system healthy and intact.

No better lesson can we learn from Paul, as he was facing hardships all the day long.

 “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. 23 I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. 24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts 20:22-24

Preparing the Bride – A Hopeful Heart

Bride1929

Preparing to be the Bride of Christ – A Hopeful Heart

13 “If you would prepare your heart,
And stretch out your hands toward Him;
14 If iniquity were in your hand, and you put it far away,
And would not let wickedness dwell in your tents;
15 Then surely you could lift up your face without spot;
Yes, you could be steadfast, and not fear;
16 Because you would forget your misery,
And remember it as waters that have passed away,
17 And your life would be brighter than noonday.
Though you were dark, you would be like the morning.
18 And you would be secure, because there is hope;
Yes, you would dig around you, and take your rest in safety.
19 You would also lie down, and no one would make you afraid;
Yes, many would court your favor.

Job 11:13-19 New King James Version (NKJV)

Preparing to become the BRIDE begins with a preparation of the
heart.  We can have all the answers, live a seemingly perfect life, but still miss becoming
the BRIDE.

Can I stand firm, be steadfast and without fear?

Can I cast my sorrows, hurts, disappointments and troubles on the sea of forgetfulness, and let them forever be gone without revisiting them?

If, I can put Christ in the forefront of every thought, action and deed, then and only then can my heart be prepared to receive the hope, security, safety confidence and favor to love and serve Him as He truly deserves.

As my faithful Defender, Shepherd, Lover, and HUSBAND.

Like a Signal in the Sky….The Power of the Cross Never Dies!

The Power of the Cross Never Fails

I’m looking back a couple of years, when I took this picture.  I had spent a year in Ohio working at a large ministry and the experience and friendships that I made while I was there are not measurable.  There was probably not anything in Ohio that I didn’t love!  I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life there and build a retreat where all of my friends could come.  I already had my eye on a beautiful old farmhouse!

I had made many forever friends and were building more each day.  I loved Ohio’s central location, the ability to travel practically anywhere in the U.S. quickly and  had set up a very cute and cozy apartment in New Albany.  Getting ready for my first fall and then winter set in as quickly as the next change did.

A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

Change is always difficult and who can know when you are in a changing season how to plan.  For a while after I left Ohio my heart was not open for planning.  It seemed like every time I got my hopes up again for a home, a place to put roots down the season would change and I would be picked up like an autumn leaf and carried away on another adventure.  Thus is the feeling in my spirit.  Who can fight God?  Acts 5:39 says,

But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them.
You may even find yourselves fighting against God!”

You see I didn’t know at the time that my youngest would be soon be getting married. But, I knew he was going to need me there.  The excitement of living near all of my sons again was exhilarating!  Yes, I can do this!  I’m not too old.  A position and plan opened up and yes, there it was God WAS once more directing my steps.  There was also someone very special in Pensacola, that I would learn much from and whom needed and wanted me!  So many things have happened since that drive after that cross appeared in the sky signaling the change that was coming.

[the mockers to Jesus at the Crucifixion:] “…Save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”

“He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.”Mat 27:40, 42 (NIV)

This must have been what the disciples thought when they saw Jesus up on that cross.  I would have thought it.  How many times had the disciples seen Jesus do miracles in their lives, and yet, even Peter had just denied him.  Even after he had promised he would never do it.

John stood by with Jesus’ mother Mary and the other women.  The grief the sadness, the sorrow, the change.  This was what was in my soul that drive from Ohio until I looked up and saw the cross.  It was like a signal in the Sky that everything was going to be ok.  It didn’t matter how old I was, or what the future held, good or bad.  I had hope that only the cross and the blood of Jesus can bring.

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.
It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Hebrews 6:19

Hope, I would be working for Globe Hope.  Change for me is really never easy, but it is exciting. Once I get over the hump.  Like a leaf, picked up by the wind in the fall…
