There is something about the look between a mother and her child that touches a place deep in my heart. It invokes a passion mixed with a fierceness to protect, especially when that child or loved one is hurting or in danger.
Is there someone in your life that sparks this type of emotion? Perhaps it is a child, a parent, a spouse or even a friend or sibling.
I’m a person who loves hard and am also a natural born fighter. I had two brothers. One older and one younger. They were always there to fight for me, and I know that even now I wouldn’t have to think twice about fighting for them, or being on their doorstep tomorrow.
Perhaps there are people in your life who are being hurt right now, their businesses and incomes are at an all time low and their stress levels are at an all time high. Maybe they have lost a loved one, had to cancel a wedding, missed a birthday, or some other family gathering or have an elderly loved one in assisted living. Maybe you feel like, “I can’t get to them, and they need me.”
There are times that I’ve felt a sense of unjust restraint and even questioned, “God, where are you? I know you see what is happening here. This is unfair! Can’t you do something to stop this? Is there another way?”
These and other questions rolled around in my mind recently after watching the movie The Passion of Christ. Then the words came to my mind and are the title to this blog, “Behold ~ The Look.” The LORD began to take me deeper into His Spirit and showing me things from His perspective.

One of the things I noticed particularly were the looks between Jesus and his mother Mary. It could have only been the power of God Himself to restrain Mary, Jesus’s mother, his disciples, and the angels of heaven from attempting to stop the crucifixion. I also know it had to be Him giving them strength to endure the grief and anguish following.
What a glorious moment Resurrection Day must have been in their lives! God was doing something the entire time. He had a Master Plan. He did something then, and He is doing something now. God does not change. He continues to look at us with His everlasting love.
God is outside of our time frame and He has already responded with every solution to our problems. He will, in His perfect timing bring every enemy of ours to their knees.
In our quiet moments alone with Him, I can feel His heartbeat, read His thoughts in His Holy Word and Hear His voice. I can trust that He Beholds me, Looks at me with His love. I sense the presence of His Holy Spirit who leads, guides and comforts us and sees us through tough times.
Can you feel God’s presence? If you can’t I would like to pray with you. Please email me and let’s set up a time together.

God Beholds ~ Looks longingly
- for those of you who are still unaware of Him.
- at you who have run away from Him, wanting your return.
- in the places where you have been abused, broken and grief stricken offering healing.
- at the widows, orphans, and those who never received this type of love from a parent, or grandparent and simply can’t identify with looks of longing.
- and says, I’ll be your father, your mother, sister, brother, friend and husband forever and through all things.
The Lord continues to behold you, looking longingly for you, and says,
“I know you’ve been in relationships where love has become so hard and brittle that you have become numb to loving, caring or risking being hurt again. But my child, this was what Jesus did for you, He bore it all, every bruise and every broken heart. His look is pure with unconditional love without a shadow of deceit or ill wishes. His look of love and sacrifice remains eternally steadfast. We have loving plans for you and you are treasured.”
Your heavenly father
The disciples ate with Jesus, and Jesus explained all that was about to happen. They still didn’t comprehend the trauma they would experience. Even so, Jesus took them with Him to the garden. He wanted them to watch, to pray and to wait with Him. They fell asleep during this time of waiting. Are you sleepy? Do you want Jesus to awaken you? Email me and we will set up a time to pray to receive a fresh infilling of His Spirit.
But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table. Luke 22:21
He prayed, He battled Satan, and then He was betrayed and was arrested. The following morning His trial began. The authorities found no fault in Him. And yet, He was unjustly indicted, beaten and began his death march toward the place where He would be crucified.
In the movie, Jesus’ mother Mary says to John, “Can you get me to him?” She would try, to have one last touch, one last deep look at her son, Jesus.
The last few hours of His life I’m certain was excruciating. When Jesus saw His mother, and John one of His disciples standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”
John 19:26
Then Jesus before His last breath says, “It is finished.” Jesus knew He would arise from the dead and see his mother, his family and loved ones again. He had already told them like Him, they would have victory over death.
Earlier, before Jesus was crucified He had spoken to to 35 pairs of His disciples who had been out preaching.
Behold, “I have given you power over the enemy and nothing will injure you.” If you are a disciple, and you have Jesus, you have His power, His authority. He helps us endure the difficult things in our lives, even those situations or people that may make us want to unleash on the situation.
He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning. 19 See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.
Luke 10:18-20
Jesus also warns them and us not to rejoice that spirits submit themselves to his disciples but that an even greater miracle has occurred. The redemption of mankind back to their creator. Jesus tells his disciples, “Your names are written in heaven.” We will see Jesus again.
The day of the crucifixion. Behold, the very earth trembled, shook and split under the look from heaven. Behold the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw the look and how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” Even in His death, His love for the world was revealed. He reviled not against the world, He died and rose again so that the world through Him might be saved.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. If you have never made a commitment to accept the person of Jesus in your heart, I would like to pray with you.
Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.
Revelation 1:7
Today I pray, “Lord help me to keep the innocence of being a child, help me to fiercely love others with your unconditional love. Help me to behold, your look and to display your glory in my life to others.”
