Rest and Fulfillment
And the LORD gave them rest on every side, just as he solemnly promised their ancestors. None of their enemies could stand against them, for the LORD helped them conquer all their enemies. Nor a single one of all the good promises the LORD had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.
I Chronicles 6 verses 43 through 45
In Part Two of Recurring Alternations we see the nation of Egypt accept and then later reject the Hebrew nation. Centuries pass and just as God promised He delivers His people out of Egypt. After Moses and the Lord ordain and commission Joshua, Moses meets with God on top of a mountain and speaks to him privately.
“This is the land about which I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I have let you see it with your own eyes, but you shall not cross over,” God said.
So then Joshua has the charge of not only leading, but also fighting to occupy this land. The children and nation of Israel are successful. Their reward was great and the land was divided up among the 12 tribes.
When Joshua was finished fighting for the promised land God told him he could have the city of his choice. He picked Timnath-serah. It was in the hill country of Ephraim, now known as Palestine.
The name “Timnath-serah” signifies in Hebrew an “extra portion” or “portion of abundance”. Similarly, the name “Timnath-heres” means “portion of the sun”.
After Joshua settled in, God then told him to establish cities of refuge for anyone seeking asylum. These cities would be a place to go for food, safety, shelter and get a fair trial if needed by the elders of that particular city.
God instructed Joshua and an obedient Israel became one nation under God where God’s laws were honored, respected, and enforced. Truly, God’s people were united as one nation under God.
Today many nations fight not to insure God’s laws, but in many cases their own leader’s and government’s ungodly lusts and desire for power, pride and wealth.
America continues to face challenges to remain a free republic, established “under God.” It has become clear many want to remove God and thus undermine His rule, His blessings, and promised rest.
“A Fourth Turning lends people of all ages what is literally a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to heal (or destroy) the very heart of the republic.” “The risk of catastrophe will be very high. The nation could erupt into insurrection or civil violence, crack up geographically, or succumb to authoritarian rule.”
Quote: The Fourth Turning
Both my parents knew and respected the reality of war and its’ long term effects on our country, it’s citizens, and the rest of the world. My father was stationed in Egypt in WWII and proudly served in the military. He considered it not only a privilege and an honor, but his civic duty.
My mother also served her country as a civil service employee and Atomic veteran. She worked for the secret Manhattan Project in Oakridge Tennessee.
Both my mom and dad were proud to be Americans serving the land of the free and home of the brave!
They both taught my brothers and I about the two questions President JFK’s asked, “Don’t ask what your country can do for you? But ask, “What can you do for your country?”
Under authoritarian rule the American dream and motto, “in God we trust” would not be true as a nation.
Quincy Wright a retired history professor began his epic Study of War and compiled and completed in 1942 with over 50 research papers. He determined that wars came in 50-year cycles, and at the time it looked as if the Second World War was in fact brewing. These discoveries caused him to become a national peace activist in spite of the periodic accuracy in which these oscillations of war occurred. By 1970 his hopes of world peace were crumbled.
He attributed these patterns to generations:
“The warrior does not wish to fight against himself, and thus prejudices his son against war,” he observed, “but the grandsons are taught to think of war as romantic.”

In the 20th and 21st centuries we are seeing refugees flee countries as never before on a global scale.
Conflicts, cold wars, and short wars like the Arab/Israel’s Six Day War not only produced casualties but thousands of forgotten refugees.
The Six Day War
The Six-Day War, also known as the June War, the 1967 Arab Israeli War or the Third Arab–Israeli War, was an armed conflict fought from 5 to 10 June 1967 between Israel and a coalition of Arab states primarily comprising Jordan, Syria and Egypt.
Below is a story of a sojourner, activist. She lived in a refugee camp. This camp has been in existence for over 53 years as a result of just six days of war. Meet Marwa

My name is Marwa, and I am a resident of Gaza Camp. The inhabitants of Gaza Camp aren’t legally recognized by any country, we are more like visible ghosts. We don’t have a Palestinian passport; we only have 2-year temporary Jordanian passports especially for people from Gaza. So, in the eyes of the law, we’re neither Palestinians nor Jordanians, we belong to no country. The refugees in Gaza camp escaped war in 1967 on foot all the way from Gaza until they arrived in Jordan and were given 750 square meters- less than a kilometer of space — in northern Jordan. It was intended to be temporary, but now many generations have been born there and nearly 45,000 inhabit the camp. The camp is overcrowded and bursting at its seams, but restrictive government policies have made escape nearly impossible.
