Semi-Stuck vs. Semi-Safe

It seems like I’m speaking to more and more people who are feeling paralyzed or stuck and unable to get motivated or moving in a forward motion. For the majority of my life I’ve been involved either personally or with others, walking through difficult times and circumstances. It is easy to get stuck especially when it looks like there is no help or hope in sight!

“Oh, the sweet life of a Christian that hath made his peace with God! He is fit for all conditions: for life, for death, for everything.”

Richard Sibbes

One night I had a dream that I had fallen into an open grave in a cemetery. Why I was there was uncertain, but death was very much on my mind especially when I had yelled and screamed until I could no longer be heard. A ray of hope happened at dawn when I heard people arriving. This hope was crushed as when I cried out, nothing came out. Two men were shoveling dirt into the grave where I had fallen, and I began to panic. I waved and jumped but I was invisible to them. The quiet inner voice of the LORD spoke to me and said, “Marlene, pack down the dirt with your feet and make steps.” I immediately began packing with my hands and feet until I had made a little stairway out of the grave. You can imagine that I scared those two grave diggers nearly to death! I was covered in dirt, and a mess!

One day a few years later, I was traveling along a winding country rode and came across a semi-truck that had missed a curve and run head on into a farmer’s field.  The wheels of the cab of the truck was buried in soft sand and he was stuck. I stopped and asked the driver who was sitting on the back of the container if he was ok?  He said, yes. He had a cooler with water and some snacks. We were in the middle of nowhere, but he did have a cell phone and told me a wrecker was on the way. I felt like he was Semi-Safe!

We can all get going too fast sometimes especially when we are carrying a heavy load. We feel certain we can make the curve, but the load continues in the direction it is going if we don’t slow down enough for some of the unanticipated curves. Keeping watch for the signs and listening to God’s voice is so important!

This brings me to the message from the Lord I’ve written out in the blog below: Please feel free to share your comments about what the Lord is speaking to you in this hour and to share my blog or newsletter with others who are feeling hopeless or discouraged.
