Oh No, Little Johnny

All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace.

Isaiah 54:13

One of my greatest joys in life was raising my children while I was working for Johnny Blue and April Craig. They still own Craig Commercial Realty in Tallahassee, Florida and have raised three wonderful children, Johnny Blue Jr. Carly and Cassidy.

Not only were they great role models of God’s love and joy for me personally, they were also wonderful role models for my sons. They love the Lord and taught their children to know and love God.

Johnny Blue always kept me on my toes and laughing many times throughout the day. On his 40th birthday April held a surprise birthday party and I dressed up and came as his 3rd or 4th grade teacher. My job was to roast him and tell Little Johnny jokes from the perspective of being his teacher!

My favorite joke was a story about a test he was given. He had to put together a puzzle in under an hour. Little Johnny noisily put his puzzle together making animal noises the entire time. Just as the timer went off he plugged in the last piece. His teacher walked over and said, Little Johnny, you did very well on your puzzle. It took you an hour and you got every piece right. You were also able to make almost every animal sound that I’ve ever heard!

You’re darn right he said with a big bright smile, I thought I did quite well!
It only took me an hour and the box said 2-3 years!

I am so thankful Johnny Blue and April were there for me while raising my sons as a single parent. They helped me teach and train my sons to know and love God.

Teaching our children to know God should be first and foremost, especially now. Many parents are facing extreme difficulties with having to work from home and oversee their children’s education. One good thing is they can spend time sharing God’s Word, and praying with their children. Parents can rest on the truth of God’s Word that when they teach and train their children up to know and love God, He promises to supply peace. And this is one thing we especially need during these trying times.

When they return to school, or are able to return to the outside world, they will be carriers of God’s love, joy and peace! God’s will and plans are always the best for us and our children and grandchildren.

Can you think of a family in need? I can think of several. Let’s teach our children how to pray and ask God to touch those in need. By doing this we can help teach, reach and share the good news of Jesus with others and they can do the same.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
