“Mommy, They don’t speak Chinese!”

In February, 1990 God woke me up at 2:00 a.m. and gave me Isaiah 54 as my life verse. This became a Word of Knowledge for a big change which was just around the corner. The following year almost to the day, I became the single mother to two toddlers. I was broke and brokenhearted!

The Lord became my husband, just as Isaiah 54 prophesied!

But, in that scripture God had made me a promise about my children…!
Verse 13 is a promise that I have held on to concerning ALL my children
(both natural and spiritual).

13 All your children will be taught by the Lord,
and great will be their peace.

God was so faithful in warning me of this drastic change coming; not only in my own life but also in the lives of my sons. The version I had read specifically said, SONS and I had four. In spite of this crisis, I knew that God was getting me ready to walk in the fullness of His love and power, and that no matter what trouble lay ahead, the Lord would be with us; and He had promised me that my children would come to know Him and His peace would be with them.

Becoming a single mother was the last thing on my list. Finding a new home with two little boys and leaving my two adopted sons was very difficult. My heart was broken.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

Now, almost three decades later, I can see how God has kept his promise to me… and to all four of my sons.

I have so many stories of God’s faithfulness during this time. Below is just one of those short stories I’ve called, Mommy, They don’t speak Chinese!

When my youngest son was around four years old we knew a family who adopted some little girls from China.  He was so worried that they would grow up and their parents would not be able to understand them when they began to talk because the babies were from China.

He said, “Mommy, they (their parents) don’t speak Chinese!”

My son’s compassionate heart didn’t understand language learning.

Today, almost thirty years later, he and his wife and his children are across the seas and as his own children grow up they will naturally learn to speak Chinese!

Only God could orchestrate and plant such a seed in my son who wasn’t much older than his own toddler (pictured above).

On top of his connection to these precious people, God has also put a fire in the heart of his wife for these wonderful asian people across the seas!
