Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.  Isaiah 41:10

Recently, I spent the day and evening with a friend who has had many obstacles to overcome.  God has miraculously seen her through all of them: radical surgery, chemo and radiation.  That afternoon she told me, “One of the hardest parts of this season was hearing one of her grandbabies say, “Nana, when are we going to get to spend the night?” That evening, she and I talked, laughed and cried.  When she took a breath, I would speak, and when I took a breath, she would speak!  Needless to say, we were both encouraged in the Lord.

The following night, I spent the night with another friend, and we did the same thing. We talked about our families and the many prayers God has answered over the years. We all have been through a lot, but we all strongly agreed that over the years and through it all our relationships with the Lord has grown much sweeter, and our desire to read and study His Word has also increased.  Visiting these two friends reminded me how important it is to spend time with friends, family and to support and encourage one another.

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. II Cor 2:14

With each of my friends, I was able to share about my mission trips last year to Nicaragua and Africa. I shared how the Lord used the children from these places to change my life and challenge me to “sell-out totally to Jesus and follow Him, wherever He leads.”  When we pursue Jesus… He will direct our steps. Below are my two friends from Challenge Farm, Alice (left) and Carol (right).  They are precious women of God!

I recently returned from Wilmington, NC after a Crisis Response Training where I graduated as a Level 1 Crisis International Responder. Along with learning A LOT about meeting the needs of those in crisis (medical care, feeding, clothing, emotional care, etc.) we learned that this can also be a great time to share Christ’s love.  The harvest has never been greater and I feel so honored to be able to be part of God’s Great Commission.
