It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. Proverbs 25:2
Triggered My Own Trouble – Do What is Right in The Lord…Always!
Have you ever had a disturbing dream and then asked God, “What was that about?” I have!
In my dream I was staying in a resort and waiting for my son and a friend to arrive. I got up early and went down to the restaurant and walked past the bakery cabinet. After a few minutes a waitress who had been talking on her cell phone came over to take my order. I ordered coffee but forgot to order the chocolate spoon that I had seen in the bakery case.
Immediately after she walked away from my table she got another phone call and went over in the corner to take it. Of course I was trying to get her attention to order my spoon, but she was intent on her call. I was enraged! She wasn’t even making an attempt to get my coffee! I thought, “Well I will show her!” So I got up to walk over to the bakery case myself and told one of the other workers there about my service. Wrong thing to do. The Lord showed me later, this is where I was triggered into trouble! The next thing I knew I had people in costumes, they were all of the other employees working at this resort who surrounded me in a mob like approach.
I remember running to the front desk for help crying profusely. The gal behind the desk comes around and joins the mob! So, I ran back to my room to wait for my son and slammed and locked the door! While this door shut another back door opened and a family reunion entered and unreasonably everyone in the party had to through my room to get to the conference room that was on the other side. Again, “I couldn’t believe I was being so imposed upon!” My anger escalated and I went downstairs and demanded to see the manager. Pleading my case, I had decided to calm down and explain my situation and come to find out… the waitress had received a call about a family member who had been in an accident. The manager had been called in to assist and give her some money to get home on.
Things are not always what they appear to be.
It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them. Proverbs 25:2
If I had been more sensitive to God’s Spirit instead of satisfying my own flesh, I may have been able to minister to this young woman rather than trigger a riot!
In the book of Daniel we read about a king and his troubling dream.
1Now in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him. 2Then the king gave orders to call in the magicians, the conjurers, the sorcerers and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king. 3The king said to them, “I had a dream and my spirit is anxious to understand the dream.”
He called all of the astrologers, magicians in and they all said tell us the dream. The king was so disturbed by the dream he said, “If you don’t tell me the meaning of this dream I will have you cut into pieces and your houses turned to rubble. Again the magicians and astrologers said, “Tell us your dream and we will interpret it. Once the king told them….They all exclaimed, “No one can tell you that dream, not anyone in the kingdom!”
12 This made the king so angry and furious that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of Babylon. 13 So the decree was issued to put the wise men to death, and men were sent to look for Daniel and his friends to put them to death.
So the king’s executioner went out and came to Daniel and his friends. Daniel was not even twenty years old yet. He was very young and very wise. God had anointed him for such a time as this.
14 When Arioch, the commander of the king’s guard, had gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon, Daniel spoke to him with wisdom and tact. 15 He asked the king’s officer, “Why did the king issue such a harsh decree?” Arioch then explained the matter to Daniel. 16 At this, Daniel went in to the king and asked for time, so that he might interpret the dream for him.
17 Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. 18 He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven 20 and said:
“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
21 He changes times and seasons;
he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.
22 He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.
23 I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
you have made known to us the dream of the king.”
Prayer changes things. In my dream I wasn’t willing to be patient and wait or to search out a matter. I was impatient. I triggered my own trouble!
