Globe Hope recently had it’s third annual 5K RUN4HOPE at the Pensacola Fairgrounds. Over 200 runners and 50 volunteers came out for the event. Globe Hope is the humanitarian arm of Globe International Ministries, Inc. a 42 year old mission sending organization. Globe Hope works with several missionaries and their organizations to raise awareness, prevent human trafficking and provide help to orphans and disenfranchised people in five countries, Children of Destiny, Nicaragua, Residence of Life, Costa Rica, Educate Honduras, and over 250 children in Kitale, Kenya at the Challenge Farm. This year a special plea also went out to Nepal earthquake victims, where Globe’s Missionaries Sudip and Anne Lise Khadka have two orphanages. Below is an excerpt from their latest newsletter update from Nepal.
The earthquake of April 25 rated 7.8. The next day a 6.7 quake struck, and then on May 12th, a third hit at 7.3. Over 270 aftershocks followed. Eight million people have been affected with nearly 9000 deaths and 23,000 injured. Landslides continue to ravish the nation, killing scores. Mount Everest moved 1.2 inches! Kathmandu moved 10 Feet! According to the UN, three million people need assistance. The nation is trying to rebuild, but prices have skyrocketed and manpower an resources are scarce. Text NEPAL to 97000 for NEPAL UPDATES.
